Ok, if I look around the internet I find alot of different comments about E88 heads. I know that there were early e88 heads that were similar to the e31. The way to tell is by the notch around the spark plug. But I seem to have two of them that have different combustion chambers. Any insights?

G'day from down under. I just got another R200 LSD (3.9) which is going in the car next week and wanted to upgrade the standard mount to eliminate the vibration at full throttle. At the moment I have the usual cheapo chain over the diff but figure that I need to go the next step since my chev is pumping 540 hp through the Zed at the moment. Any suggestion on upgrading the moustache bar with a plate or solid mounting the front of the diff? I have read some stuff on this site but was hoping to gather some more info. thanks

Just finished with install of all new parts from MSA--- For a early 73 240Z: Stock clutch Pressure plate Clutch collar THROWOUT BEARING---- Dust boot Clutch master, hose, and slave were replaced a few months previously with new parts. Worked fine until the clutch disk lining finally wore out and it would slip under acceleration. A clutch disk alignment tool was used for the install. Bearing howels when clutch pedal is pushed in----sometimes quite loud and annoying, sometimes not so loud. Any fix short of taking it all down and redoing with a new bearing? Dissappointedly! :disappoin :disappoin :disappoin Jim D. "Zup"

Please don't flame me on this. I have a nice set of six Weber 45 DCOE velocity stacks that I want to trade (not for sale) for a set of 40 DCOE stacks. The classifieds do not have a section for "trade", but I did run this in the classifieds with no responses. If you know anyone running tripples that might be interested in a trade, please pass the word. I can be contacted at 503-267-7266. Thank you - I appreciate your help. Roger

Evening everyone Quick Question I have completed the Distributer swap to Electronic E12-80 from a points distributer. It went in beautiful...bolted her down. and she started up with the first turn of the key. but.... I find it wants to Idle quite high like 1600 rpm . Wasn't like that before , (around 900 Rpm) I am wondering if possibly, as the spark is much better in the electronic ignition distributer that the engine is burning the mixture better, thus getting more revolutions from the same fuel Or should I screw with the Distributer a little. I tried checking the timing with the strobe light but I couldn't see a mark on the crank pulley? I have read a lot of threads tr…

I have a round port 6-into-2 header of unknown brand with 1 & 3/8ths inch primaries and 2 inch collectors. I plan on using it with my Maxima N47 head. The head has been completely worked by Paul Ruschman (braap on Hybrid Z) including bigger valves, valve unshrouding, polishing to within 1/4 cc per chamber, and moderate porting. The cam is a Rebello regrind with a .520 lift that is referred to as a "very hot street cam". All of this is on a .040 over F54 block with flattops, and running triple Weber 40 DCOE's with an Electromotive distributorless ignition system. I prefer to run a round port header since the MN47 is a round port head. But I'm not opposed to runnin…

Finally! I just saw a new locking gas cap exclusive for MSA in the new Spring catalog...$39 (I think that's it)... I have to order some water pump parts and spark plug wires this weekend, guess I have to get this too! Also, not sure if this is new, but there is the link "we will match or beat any price" all over the sales brochure, which I haven't seen before.... If you spend $100, you get a free 2007 wall calendar with....Zs on it of course.... Happy Valentines day...I got my Sweetheart some premium gas today...did you get your Sweetheart anything today? ~dave

Well it looks like I need a complete head rebuilt. I was wondering about putting larger valves in my E88. I have heard that this is a great way to increase flow. I am running a L24 engine. Do you run into the same problems as with an N42 head on an L24. That is, will I have to notch the block to make it fit? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Adam

Hello everyone. I have plans on buying a turbo engine for my 280Z, but before I do I would like to start it up in the donor car and see if there is anything noticeably wrong with it. I have made a list of supplies I think i would bring with me to do this. I figure there are many of you who have done this kinda thing before so if there is anything you think I should take with me, I would love to hear any suggestions you would have. Thanks 1. 2 gallons of gasoline 2. 6 or so quarts of cheap oil 3. Car Battery 4. Sea Foam 5. Set of sparkplugs 6. Carburetor Cleaner 7. Work rags 8. Water for the radiator

So I replaced my 4spd with a 5 spd I picked up when I bought this motor. After reading lots of posts about how you can change the shifter and also about how its easier to cut out the console to make fit I thought I would ask a direct question to my scenario. This car is the earlier series, a early 1971, basically a serises 1. The later 5spd is not going to work and the housing for the shifter is different from my early shifter. Heres the tranny as mounted and showing how the shifter matches up underneath. So Im not matching up by about 2 inches or so like Ive read other people state, what Ive read is that I could bend the shifter to match up but I just dont see h…
