Hey guys, This is the first time ive posted in quite a while.....sorry, just been real busy. Im still drudging through the trenches restoring my 77 280z, and still doing body work and the like. However, after I get her back to road worthy status, Im going to drive her around for awhile on the stock motor until i save up enough paper for the MSA stroker kit. Also, I wanna still use FI, and i plan on upgrading to a Lonewolfperformance intake system with o-ring style injectors. So heres, my question, take I take all the smog and emission system crap off of my motor (to clean up the overall look of the engine bay) and the FI still work right? Or will my computer sh*t the …

I know Nissan does not make the O ring/gasket for the speedo fitting into the tranny anymore (I have been told), so is there anything else available that you have used that would work?

I keep breaking bolts on the lower alternator mount. I can’t find any bolts stronger then 10.8 grade. Properly torqued but they just keep breaking. Any comments, suggestions, ideas?

I am in need or replacing my exhaust, resonator and muffler. Anyone have any input or ideas on this? I know I can just go to the muffler guy and take what they offer, but wanted some input from the z experts. Any info on magna flow, vforce, etc. Or do I just go get a simple exhaust and muffler setup? Tx, Bill

I am in the hunt for a performance exhaust system to go with my Pace-Setter, Jet-Hot coated header. I wanted a Dynomax turbo muffler and 2 1/2" pipes. Unfortunately, my preferred shop burned down. The runner-up shop carries Magnaflow and Excellerator. Anybody have experieince with either of these? I have not run accross a shop that handles Dynomax yet. I thought Dynomax was fairly common. Is that a mail order only brand? Thanks, Marty

I've installed my Ztherapy SU's and have a question about the choke cable attachment. Yes, I've viewed most of the video (doesn't show that angle shot), read through three books on SU's (including the FSM), and searched prior posts. My thoughts are to lift the choke levers up until the levers just contact the throttle shaft and tighten the cables. This is how it was done prior but I don't know that it's correct. The other option is to leave the levers full down, cut some cable sheathing to expose more cable, and attach to the levers in the full down position. Any input? Thanks...

Hi everyone, I've posted once on this site but never properly introduced myself. About four years ago I found a 1978 280z on craigslist for cheap. I was lucky enough to find the ad about 2 hours after it was posted. I called the owner and made an appointment for the next day. The following day I was really surprised by the condition of the car. The body was near perfect with no rust and two small scratches on the hood. The interior was completely original and showed very little signs of its age. It looks like it had been repainted but it still looked fairly new. Unfortunately, the engine wasn't as good. The Z had been sitting in storage for 12 years and was hardly driven…

Last night on my way home from work, I pulled up at the last set of lights before the short cruise home, lights to green, clutch out and nothing, except a rattle from the rear right. No prizes for guessing that the one of the uni joints had sheared, come loose or something similar, what I hadn't expected was to see the drive shaft had actually popped out from the stut side! In the many years I've been reading messages on this site of knowledge, I have never read of this happening. Have ordered 2 uni's today and will proceed with a re-build over the next day or 2.

I was wondering if I get my head rebuilt with new seats/guides and seals can I just reinstall the old lash pads since I'll be using my old cam and rockers? I'm assuming that this return the wipe pattern to the way it was or am I misleading myself. My head has some serious valvetrain clatter, eventhough I've adjusted the valves. Since it makes so much noise, when I get it rebuilt should I just replace the entire valvetrain?

So, I need to rebuild my engine. I have two complete P30 blocks, my original numbers matching block, and a donor block. The original P30 has a spun rod bearing, which ruined the crankshaft. The donor block is in my Z right now, but burns oil pretty badly. In the sake of making numbers match, would it be possible to swap the crank and rods from the donor block and put them into the original block, since the original crank is damaged? I figure that doing it this way would make it so that the value of the Z would theoretically be more due to numbers matching. Also, the original P30 has been sitting in my garage for close to two years, and has a slight bit of surface rust on…
