Everyone, My future father-in-law suggested that I add capfull of some liquid graphite to my cars oil to help it run better. Now I will say that he isn't a car guy by any means and the bottle of the liquid graphite was in Dutch (which he got in Belgium when he lived there and by judging from the cans look it's possiable it's from the 50's and 60's.) I could see this being good for a break in of an engine, but for regular use, I don't know.... thought I would pose the question to you guys especially after reading the past couple of posts about zinc di-phosphate (ZDP).

Hey all, I am repainting some engine bay parts and need some advice...What kind of glossiness of black paint will most closely match stock for things such as the radiator, steering rack, brake booster, etc...Eastwood sells an "underhood black" which is supposed to have "just the right amount of gloss," but I'm not sure if it's the right way to go. I think the rack can be painted Chassis Black, but the booster needs to be glossier...ditto the radiator, but the booster (I think) is glossier than the radiator... Any help would be great. Thanks, Steve

Hey guys, I'm looking for some info on this, or some experience. All I have been able to come up with on the forums is a 240k conversion. Any idea how similar this would be? I have a 71 240 lookin to put, I believe, a 78 5 speed and diff. in. If anyone has done a swap like this and has any input that would be great. Thanks!

So I was doing a lash adjustment the other day when I discovered I had "wiped" 2 cam lobes. Now I checked the cam and sure enough it was a CWC billet. I think we had hashed that over enough already so I will not go there. So I called Isky racing cams and talked to Ron Iskenderian. He confirmed what I had suspected, and recommeded I send him a old stock "Japan" cam and a list of my exact engine specs and what I want the car to do. He is going to do a custom grind for my engine. Then we talked about oil. This is where we all need to pay attention. Our US motor oils no longer contain zinc di-phosphate. This is a critical component for our engines. Seems the EPA fig…

On the lift, we could see the axact source ofte leak(s), so we thought there might be some pinholes from rust on the side (bottom looked OK). The new question now, is should I have the oil pan removed, blasted and coated /soldered or just get a new one? What kind of place could do the repair? ZX, so which new or used ones could I use? anything from an L26, L28 or L28 ZX engine? eBay has one from a ZX thx

Well, I just invested a chunk of change in a set of 4 Nissan half-shaft U-joints (37126-VB925). Just opened them tonight. And interestingly, they have no provision for grease fittings! I am somewhat surprised, and wondering how much grease I need to put in the joint when I put it together, since I'll never get another chance... The caps are fairly well filled with the "normal" yellow Nissan grease. The cross-piece, however, is totally devoid of grease. Should I pack the cross piece with grease before assembly? I can't think of any downside to doing so, and the spinning of the joint ought to then keep that grease forced toward the caps where it is needed... Any sugge…

Hi all..I have aquired a totally rebuilt L24 with the resto project car I have bought....my concern is that it could be up to 4 years hopefully only 2 before I get the engine in and ready to fire( you know how it is money, time) how can I store it to perserve it...I know Lucas oil was used in the rebuild..and I have been told that should keep it for sometime..that I'm not so sure about.I have also been told to just fill the thing up with oil to almost the top, pull plugs and fog the cylinders. I would just like to have some to save this engine, the guy did an amazing job painted, polished, and new or rebuilt everything inside and out, plus a couple of goodies... I'm cou…

Has anyone converted an early e-88 head for fuel injection? I'm trying to find out how much work it is and any pros and cons. My head is at the shop now getting the works and if it needed to be drilled or notched I would like to do it now while its apart and at the machinists. I plan on using Su's right now but later on who knows. I'm putting a lot of money in this head and I would like it to be as versitile as possible.

So I tuned up my carbs. and something puzzled my brother and I. There was grayish smoke coming out of the breather valve on the valve cover. Is this supposed to happen because the car has not been run in 7 years. thx Ian:nervous:
