So I finally got around to ordering my new heater valve for my car. Today MSA calls me and asks if I want to include the 2 little hoses for it with my order. They are charging $17 for them. My question is, do I need to use the ones they are selling, or will regualr rubber hose like the kind in the engine bay work down there. The heater valve already cost me $98, so Id rather not add another 17 on if I don't have to. Thanks.

Just picked up parts car, previous owner said it had a Rally engine from a 1970 240. Is there any way to verify this is what he says it is by the number on the block?

Is there any way to tell if a 78 Z shipped from the factory with a 4 or 5 speed?

Well I found a R180 3.90 out of a 83 Nissan Truck front end. Went through all the work to swap it out and it sounds like a truck! It has a growling kind of noise and I don't think I can drive around that way. It looks almost brand new as you can see in the picture compared to my original, any ideas of what could be wrong? Hard to believe the bearing are bad...?

All: New to the forum, made a few posts. I am 20+ years out of the Z game, but recently purchased a 1972 240Z, numbers matching. The previous owner kept it mostly original, but did add a 5-speed and a 4.11 R180. The car needs a rebuild, it doesn't have spunk to it. I considered doing a resto on it, but given the tranny and rear-end, perhaps a "resto-mod" or stealth Z is in order. I considered the idea of the Rebello 2.7L, but searching this board indicates this is a $4,000- $5,000 expense  So I started thinking I could do this on my own if I were to obtain a 260 crank and rods, add higher compression pistons, and maybe have Rebello do an Improved Touring job on …

Anyone ever heard of a Y70 head for an L6 Datsun? Looking at the picture it is a round port, similar to a p79. I am just curious, hadn't seen one before. It is posted on ebay, item # 8035180569.

Hi, I have replaced my rear end on my 70 with a R200. I was in the process of restoring the drive shaft i bought for it and found out it was not servicable. Evidently the u-joints cant be replaced. Does anyone know of what year shaft i need to look for that can be serviced of if there is a place to buy aftermarket or custom. If anyone has one for sale, i would be interested. Thanks Mark

I am in the middle of swapping my stock '71 240z 3.36 R180diff with one from a 85 N/A 200sx 4.11 R180. I followed the instructions thats are in the articles section which basically state that you have to install the threaded inserts into the side gears of the 4.11 diff. All seemed to go well but, I've noticed that when I spin half shaft, the other half shaft spins in the same direction (like a LSD diff)!!! Now I know that that could be desirable for some but, I don't know what I could've done to accomplish this. The only thing that went differently than planned was that I couldn't reinstall the little block that goes on the big pin(in between the side and spider gears) t…

Engine was pulled from a running '73 rust-bucket. No carbs, intake, or exhaust included. I have the thermostat housing, but the bolts are broken (not in the head). Does included alternator, fuel pump, water pump and fan. I'll even throw in an extra engine stand! Previous owner of '73 claimed it was rebuilt. I only know that it ran and had no noticeable issues. Local pick up only, I can not ship it. $50 or best offer. This must be out of my garage before mid January or I'll be forced to throw it away...

All: Still doing some information gathering, so my apologies. I have posted a few times about my desire to hop up my 1972 240Z, but I want to keep the stock block/head (numbers match). I could just go with a nice cylinder head job, but I figured if I have the head off, perhaps some other mods are in order. I don't want to remove the block and have it rebored (unless I have to based on my inspection), but I thought of adding a L26/L28 crank/rods to get added displacement. I know it can be done, and not too much of a pain it appears from the Honsowetz books. However, I noticed Rebello sells a 2.7L motor that obviously uses the L28D to get the extra displacement. The cos…
