hi guys, I just heared from my uncle that the throttle should have n opened gap while idle.. I thaught that the adjustable screw does the function of passing idle air.. I'm now confused weather he is right or I am?! does anyone have any idea about it? and does anyone knows how to adjust the throttle valve position switch/sensor? coz if i free the 2 screws and turn it clockise and anti clockwise nothing happen.. is it damaged? thanx

Hey folks, I've been doing some reading about various L-block engine heads (using this site as a resource), and I've just got a quick question for someone who wants to answer. If I've read and understood this correctly, my '76 should have the N42 head (if it's as stock as I'm assuming it is), which means it has square exhaust ports, the same as the the P90(A) heads... so in theory, would that mean at some point down the road (forgive the pun) I could bolt on a ZX turbo exhaust without having to replace the N42 head? Link me up if it's been done (that'd be great). :squareeye

So i got my radiator fixed from last fan incident...turned out my motor mounts were fine, just an unbalanced fan. I replaced the fan clutch and the water pump and the fan is still unbalanced! I noticed that some of my fan blades have taken a new shape almost (one was warped) when i had taken the fan out for the replacement of all of these, i tried to bend it back, it's still off balance...my only thought is that i need to replace the plastic fan part... right? i mean a new clutch/water pump probably wouldn't be the problem would they? The damned thing is touching my radiator from time to time so i don't run it anymore because i don't want another radiator hole... If i do…

I am the proud new owner of a 1970 240Z HLS3003137 but am not the most mechanical person yet (but working on it). The car does not run too good yet and I think one issue is the carb tuning. I have 2 questions: 1) I changed spark plugs and the old ones were covered in black soot. When I start the car soot shoots out the tailpipe and you can barely detect that the exhaust is a bit black. Is this simply a too-rich fuel/air mixture or are there other possible issues? 2) I plan to get an airflow meter and tune the carbs. Before I do that I need to set the proper idle speed. My question is on the default position of the choke because that seems to be influencing my idle sp…

hey, its KGL the other day i took my z for its first long rang drive. the results where great with the set up that i have on the car. it pulls really stronge. But on the way back home i started to feel a vibration and a noise when i let off the gas. so i nursed it home and jacked it up the next morning. and i discovered that it was the side bearing in my differetial and if this bearing is going the rest of them probably dont have much life left in them. so i decided to go ahead and change all the bearings in the rear end. and then i discoverd that these arnt very cheap bearings :disappoin . So what i am asking evryone is what kind of up grads can i make. Meaning what othe…

If a picture says a thousand words, what's a video with sound good for? Knocking My bandwidth may not bee too good on the upstream! What does the noise bring to mind? It appears to be coming from the top somewhere in the center of the head. A stethescope reveals nothing at all. The valves have been adjusted, but they don't stay that way long. Engine gets very low vacuum (10~11) and compression reads 150 across. Peeking through plug holes with my LightOnAWire shows no sight of valve to piston impact. And yes, this is pretty much part of the problem I've had for months, but the knocking is louder (or the exhaust quieter?). I've replaced the manifold gasket and gotten nowh…

the motor is a l28 bottom end with a l24 head with a big cam and some high compression pistons. it has triple 40mm webers, with unkown jetting, i got the car like this, so it's hard for me to try and figure out what is wrong or where i need to go with tuning. but anyways, my oil is visually thinner and smells of gas, so my first reaction is, much too rich, rich enough to soak the cylinders with gas, and to seep past the rings into the pan. second thought is that the rings are flat out bad, haven't compression tested it, just brainstorming. and i'm also burning it a little, no doubt because it's so thin... but my thinking is that with an unknown camshaft with unknown pisto…

hey guys... finally went ahead and installed my 240mm flywheel and clutch.. i upgraded from a 225mm to a 240mm.. there are reports saying that you NEED the shorter turbo or 2+2 throwout bearing collar... well I got a shorter one.. and I decided to use the n/a 225mm throwout bearing collar.. for a longer "throw" so i have more clutch movement for engagement.. worked out great!! I had to change out the clutch.. because with a 225mm N/A clutch and a modified n/a block with a turbo slapped on and other goodies.. it slipped.. BAD.. i mean.. it slipped at 2 psi over 3,000 RPM in any gear.. esshkk New pedal is firm.. I have to get used to it.. but I love it! This i…

I hit a border on curb last monday with my right rear tire (no excuse , I take this curb twice a day ??????) And now the car is shaking all over when I turn right, a bit less when I turn left, and not at all in straight line! How strong is the rear diff ? Did I damage the diff, or more likely the half-shafts ? Are they rebuildable or do I have to find new ones ? How to tell if it's the diff or something else, I did put the car on a lift and nothing looks bended or even out of place, no leak, I know a tiny bit is enough so! Well, as it's my daily driver, please be fast to respond!!!!!! Boomer
