CAn someone tell me the difference between the 3 and 4 screw SU's(besides the obvious)?I noticed a small chamber area on the bottom of the carb with passages from the intake, is this for coolant? Is there any difference in performance? Also the 3 screw carbs came attached to a e-88 intake, how does that compare to the e-36 intake?I bought the 3 screws off of e-bay and they are like new but I want to make sure I put together the best performing package for my car. thanks for any info

i recently acquired a 72 240z with a built l28 in it, car is great but the car has triple webers on it, and the throttle linkage binds up when i try to give it throttle. i'm looking for one of two things, a fancy solution of bellcranks and such, or in my eye, the simpler route, perhaps a little help trying to figure out how to convert the car to a throttle cable as apposed to cranks... i am also curious as i am getting heavy white smoke under throttle, but i recently did some work on the valve seals and had the cylinders aired up, and didn't notice really any leakdown...but i'm assuming it's the rings, saying i go and do a proper test of the leakdown/compression, what sor…

I have triple Webers on my 240. Runs great, but when I come to a stop, be it at a light, stop sign, etc.; the idle stays at about 1500 to 2000 rpm. If I give the gas pedal a sharp kick, the idle may or may not drop to the 800-1000 rpm range that I set it at in the garage. Sometimes takes two or three raps on the pedal. Linkage is free, also have some good return springs on the linkage. I have the Crane optical ignition in the dist., so there are no points. Not running any vacuum advance. Could the centrifugal advance be hanging or do I have wear in the distributor? Any ideas/theories would be appreciated.

I am having problems with my camshaft and lifters. It is a solid cam with hydraulic lifters. (They do not grind a cam for hydraulic lifters, so I am told) I know you cannot run this combo in other engines. Raver Motorsports built this head with this camshaft. Here is the problem: You can start the car and it will run OK. After it runs for about 5 minutes the lifters guit working. I believe they over pump and the engine has no compression. It will not restart until the lifters leak back down. When you check the compression, there is none! After it sets overnight, you have compression and it will start. Anyone else running the P90A head? What camshaft are you using? Anyone …

How much power could a stock auto/box handle? Full 3carb/header/cam ? Is there a nicer box that could be bolt to the engine ? A later 5 speed auto with all those nice gizmos... sequential ? Fred

Just wondering if these old kits are anygood ? Before you throw up your hands and say "just drop in an L28ET", they are not availible here in Oz. Are these kits still good bang for the buck or are they too outdated ? Ray

I know that P90 heads have solid adjusters. Some of the P90A heads have both solid and hydraulic lifters. I am wanting to convert a hydraulic P90A head to solid lifters/adjusters. Are the solid adjusters on a P90A the same size (dia) and thread pitch that are in the P90A? How about the solid adjusters on the P90A head. Are these the same size and thread pitch that are used by the hydraulic lifters? I know you cannot use the older-style solid lifter/adjuster on the P90A head. How about the solid adjusters on the P90 or P90A head?

Right now I am trying to decide if I should spend the extra and get the lighter flywheel high perf flywheel. Can someone who has had the old heavy oem flywheel .. and then installed a light one please give me some feedback on if it was worth it etc. Also .. does it really make a difference if you install high perf braided clutch lines or just the regular oem type. Personaly I like the look of the steel braided lines .. but do they actualy perform better? Thanks ..Bruce
