Ok I've found some L14 rods but I've been quoted what I think is a little bit high in the price range. I don't mind paying it if they work out to be really good for my stroker but the L20 rods are probably the next best thing and I can probably get a set of those for next to nothing compared with the L14's. So what would you expect to pay for these rods, keep in mind I'm from Aussie Land .

When I bought my 1973 240z, the PO said the differential came out of a 510. It is a 3.90. Not sure if he was positive though. Does ayone recognize the mystery diff? It is slightly lighter weight than the stock diff. The pics with two diffs have the stock(so he told me) diff on the left and the mystery diff on the right. The individual pic is the mystery diff. Thanks, Victor.

okay... while im in the process of doing my valve guide seals, i was wondering. i heard that the 260Z cam is pretty mild, and there happens to be a whole 260 e88 in my garage. i have an n47 on it now, and i was wondering if i would get any form of gain or performance from putting this cam on my n47 already on the car. someone told me that a mild cam would go good with the setup that i have, so i was just wondering if it was true. thanks!

I am trying to figure out what the best head would be for an L28? I'm wanting to install forged flat top pistons, bigger cam, headers, and my tripple Dellorto 40's. I currently am running an N42 head stock, but something about square ports just doesn't seem efficient. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've heard the E31 and the P90 being the best. E31 having small valves, but that could be changed I would assume. Anyways hopefully someone could push me in the right direction.

I finished my resto almost. I had my old crew member Steve from ZTherapy do my 2 1/2" exhaust system. (It looks great!) We started the new engine and it fired up the second we hit the starter. Steve tuned his new ZT carbs and I went for a short drive. It was at night and one of the bulbs was out on my dash. It just happened to be the OIL pressure gauge. We had 90# when we started the car. Anyway, I had driven the car about 3 miles and was on my way back when I noticed the valves started to 'clack'. When I got to the shop where there is an outside light, I noticed the oil gauge was down on pressure. I do not know what it was pumping but the lifters (P90A) were collapsing. …

I have come to the point in which I need to lift the engine out of my car. Everything is ready to go, all fluids drained, cables undone, ect. I have run into a problem, my engine lift will not fit under the car. The car is lowered and the long legs of the lift are too tall to fit under the suspension. If the car is on jackstands, it is tall enough, but the jackstands are in the way. Also, as it says in the wick humble book, the tires should be one the car, so I guess that rules out the jackstands. Is it possible to use the lift from the side of the car insted of the front? By placing the long arms on either side of the front wheel. If I could get replies soon th…

First things first, where should my vac advance be hooked up to? First pic shows where it was originally hooked up when I first got the car, 2nd pic shows how it has been up until recently (please excuse the shithouse pic....it's all I have that shows it). I assume the change happened when the new carbs went on (they were nicked, I didn't install the new ones). Is there really any difference between using either position? Now, it had been running fine and dandy up until late last week when I installed a crane XR700. When I first took it for a drive after setting the timing I had forgotten to hook up the vac advance. So with it running, removed my plug (from the nipp…

I have got an L28 block in my 260z with the standard dished pistons. However the head is the smaller(40cc) E88 closed chamber with L24 valves (pretty sure it has 42mm intake vales, vs 44mm for the L28). The engine is otherwise a standard L28 with EFI. The engine is rebuilt and has only done about 100km. She goes pretty well, and I've always had it on the cards to put the L28 sized valves in, just wondering though if ,from people's experience, weather it is really worth it and if they noticed a difference? I'm getting ready to detail the engine compartment of my 78 Z. I want to keep it all stock and bring it back as close as possible to when it was new. I have a couple of questions for the group. 1) Can you point me to a good picture of the engine compartment of a 280-Z when it was new or one that has been restored to the original? I've looked through the gallery and it's hard to discern what was stock (colors, etc.) and what was enhanced. 2) What have others done to clean up or revitalize bare metal parts, such as the alternator, etc. Thank you.

This is rather embarrasing, I picked up a manifold gasket the other day for my '77 and it turns out the n42 head I have and the head I SHOULD have are rather different. I have diamond exhaust ports on the gasket and rectangles on the head.... Ouch. This isn't the worst part. I put them on before realizing the error. Anyhow, with luck the parts store will take them back as a gesture of goodwill My problem here, though, is that the headers don't seem to align very well. I believe they're MSA (They have a thick bar running along the bottom that flares on the ports) hell, here's some pics. Anyone else have this problem? How do you fix it? Grind the tops of the flanges to …
