Any one replace their oil pan while the engine was in the car? Specifically a L28ET in a 240Z. Do you need to raise the motor up to do it? Thanks, Pete

hey guys i just got my 6-1 header from MSA, and its rubbing and hitting the tranny... i called them and they denied even having the problem! someone at the FL Z fest was telling me about having MSA fix it, and i want to find the posts about it so i can prove the guy wrong! thanks!

I see a lot of stuff about bent hoses, like for the gas tank. Is there a way you can form te hoses in a desired shap so they stay bent, or does the manufacturer have to do it at the factory. Maybe bending it with heat in a wood mold of some kind, then letting it cool? Solvents are out, obviously. I haven't fooled with vulcanizing in a few years. thx

I have been lookin at a 77 280z and if i purchase it the first thing in line to do is rebuild the engine. It currently runs fine but it is getting old. I plan on using this car as a daily driver but i am interested in what i can do to crank out those extra horses. I realize headers, exhuast, and intake will help but what else do yall recommend? cam? How much power can be expected from a L28 engine? i will probably spend from $3-5000. I am not looking to do anything radical. I have searched this site and there is a ton of info but it is all spread out and hard to piece together.

Well, I spent a good bit of time on the car today. I have the head bolted down and the timing correct. I am very happy, everything looks good. I am taking the front cover and some other parts (water pump, oil pump, ect.) to school in the morning to clean them in a tub of parts cleaner. Then on thursday I should have it all together! I cant wait! It has been a while since November.

This one goes into my "stupid things I've done" book. So, I've got my engine on the stand. I've been working on it for a while. It's been cleaned & painted. It's had a little grinding done here and there and has been through pre-assembly. I'm pretty happy with the way it's going. I recently got my internals back from getting balanced. So I'm getting everything ready for final assembly. I turn the engine up side down and am contemplating leaving the oil pick-up tube in place. The block has been sitting all winter and there is some rust on the deck and in the bores. It is only surface rust. The How to Rebuild Your Nissan Datsun OHC Engine by Tom Monroe says nothing about removing rust. What is the best way to take care of this? Here are some pictures

Sorry if this is pretty basic, but im still pretty new to the Z (and most engines) I know that my car is running rich. A friend of mine who is a mojor in car repair has told me thats the problem. All i need to know is what i need to do to fix this and get the Gas-air ratio right. Its a 77' 280 that is all original. I have looked and cant find any instructions on what needs to be adjusted or fixed. Thanks in advance. I know you guys here are great!

Did anybody try running their Z engine with only the expansion chamber on? I saw some neat Ansa tips and figured it would look cooler than some old rusty tailpipe sticking out there. thx.

Basically my 280zx will not run on all 6.. It will only run on 4 cyl 1-#-#-4-5-6 and not 2-3 at all. I got the following, Spark to all cylinders Good compression - 190 or more in all cylinders Pulse And The injectors are squirting fuel more like spraying.. I replaced the injector hoses as they where rotted out.. I also got fuel coming into and out of the rail and the pressure regulator seems to be working great as well as pressure to the rail from the pump.. Any ideas? it must be electrical i think... It will start up perfectally on 4cyl and idle nicely Ignition timing is fine aswell. thanks guys.

Can somebody give me the specs on the stock injector for a 280Z? I need the OEM Bosch part #, but the Flow rate, etc. would be good to have too, so I can select al alternative, if I need to. thx
