Just got my P90A head with big valves, ported intake and exhaust and a new WEB Cam kit, with grind #91. It has .450 " lift both intake and exhaust, the duration is 260` and the lobe centers are intake 106`, exhaust 111`. I know we used to run .620 lift and 310` duration on our racing 2.8's but then that was real racing and this is a street engine. Has anyone used this #91 Web grind? What are it's charactoristics? I know the hydraulic lifters do not like a lot of lift. What rpm's will this camshaft work... 6,500? More? Less? The engine will be a balanced and blueprinted 2995cc with 9.3 cr, SU's and 6-3-1 header on it. It will be run in a restored '71 Z with a 5-speed and 3…

I've just removed the valve cover for the first time to inspect the cam. The sockets in the cylinder head bolts are full of sludge but the rest of the inside of the head and cover seems fairly clean. I haven't looked inside any other Zcar engines so I don't know if this is normal. Any wisdom from someone who’s got more experience would be appreciated. I’m now afraid of what’s in the oil pan. I was checking out some antifreeze leaks on my 280Z and noticed this in the pic.... the #6 hole has some sort of burnt material around it, poillibly a leak of somesort, its not black but more of a brown color, the rest of the plug entrys are clean as a whistle... Could it be a dead cylinder (I do not know exsactly what the prerequisites are for this proplem)? Any help would be highly appreciated...

G'day all. I looked at the posts on the net and they've been very helpful so far with dealing with my fan clutch. I'm swapping back to it 'cos my electric fan sucks - or more to the point it doesn't. But, after taking it apart, i still find it hard to turn the bearing (while it is apart) (the big half). It turns, but it isn't exactly free to spin. Is this usual? Is there some way i can get a new bearing so it can free wheel better? Thanks

Ok here it is for those who requested it, a drawing of my setup with new pics as well... My friends and co-workers have come to compare the sound of my exhaust to the 61 Ferrari off the movie Ferris Bueler's day off. It is very similar, not quite as loud and rumbleing as the Ferrari... enjoy!

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0217/article.html Has anybody seen this article? The complete article? I'm looking for the remainder of the article (passed the password protection). I want to use this type of setup to help monitor my fuel mixture from my SU's. If anybody has access to this site and can send me the rest of the article, I'd appreciate. I just want to find out how to build this thing. Thanks.

Hello People! I am a newbe to this site. I was referred here by a question I had about intake castings. I have several early Z's and ZX's so I am trying to put together what years and models had what intake's on them. Now this only applies to the 75-83 fuel injected intakes. I would love to see If any of you have a break down of these. I am also trying to find out which years had the Idle air control in the Throttle body rather than on the side of the intake. Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Josh

I have to say, Maxi muffler did a great job on my custom 2.5" system, and you all remember the 24" glasspack I posted about, well, the results are amazing! I have never been so happy in my life. It is loud yes but not as loud as you would think, and totally not ricey at all.... The sound?? sounds like an old ferrari from the 50's or 60's, the res. isnt bad at all and the sound is not raunchy but very aggresive, I'll get some pics and sounds up as soon as I can wewhoo! :classic:

Hi I purchased a 260z that had been modified with an L28, Webbers etc but one of the things the previos owner did for some reason was take out the vapor recovery stuff. Also he left the open holes in the tank. His solution was to only put maybe half a tank of gas in so it would not splash out. I dont think this can be safe plus it just seems like bad idea in general. So my question is should I track down all of the vapor recovery parts and try and put it all back together or should just come up with something that will let it vent to a safe place or just do the fuel cell? Thanks very much in advance for any help you can give me.

I have a 76 280z and this is part of the throttle body. I just aquired an 1980 zx engine but the BCDD is missing. It is located on the bottom of the intake manifold and not the throttle body (see diagram). I was just curious what this does and if there another name it goes by? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14001
