I have 78 280Z 2+2 and am looking to do an engine swap. Will the L28ET bolt right up the existing stock car? If not what kind of mod will have to look forward to? Also what else must be replaced if I decided to throw a LS1 small block in? Any help is appreciated. Thank.

I had a squeak in my idler pulley on my 280. It got progressivley worse, and I purchased another pulley from Z barn. The fellow there said he was familiar with the problem and sold me a puley that he had instaled new bearings in. I put the pulley on a couple weeks back, much quieter. Now that pulley is starting to squeak as well! But it is intermittent. I thought it might be related to temperature, but it seems to just be loud some days and not so loud on others. Any ideas?

I am replacing the head on my 240z. The current engine is an 1983 L28. The old n47 head is currently off the car and the N42 is ready to go. I was going to order gaskets from MSA but the gasket on the car is a Felpro. What head gasket should I use with the N42. Will the compression be different? I also heard gaskets with metal are bad, is this true? Thanks Ps, While the head is off, do I need a cam oiler with a robello cam? It was on the N47 with a crane cam.

Has anyone tried this? It sounds like a great way to clean the thing out. Any info would be appreciated.

They have a sale going on now on their Aerospace Thermal coating for headers, does anyone know if this is jet-hot or if not who does this for them? Also anyone have any feedback if they bought a header with this coating? Thanks Jeff

Have 71, considering leaving factory manifold alone. Would you guys recommend the MSA "Targa" or "Turbo" for the stock implementation? http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PEC

Are there any good articles about inspecting and adjusting the valvetrain on an L24? I would like to pop the valve cover and do some inspecting to see how it all looks but was hoping for some guidelines. Also, if I do end up doing any valvetrain adjustment, what tools should I have on hand? I have most of the basic tools already, but fre specialty tools. Thanx! Justin 73 240Z

I'm considering buying a 1975 280z with 150K on original engine. Great condition. My question for the long-term is if I ever needed to buy a rebuilt engine, what ballpark price am I looking at? Thanks!

i have a 75 280z with FI and some mods and i just finished my install of all new timing components and a stage 3 cam kit from MSA and was wondering if the ignition timing still should be set to stock or if it should be altered? if so does anyone know how it should be altered? i ask this because today when timing it it seemed to run not as well with the factory setting of 10 degrees btdc it ran smoother with a setting nearer to tdc but im no expert and wouldnt dare leave the timing at anything but stock unless its alright to do so. thanks.~Jerrod

I just purchased a lightened flywheel (used). It came out of a 240z. I have an 83 5 speed with 280z clutch parts (clutch collar, clutch slave cylinder, clutch fork) question is can I still use these parts with this flywheel?? Or do I have to buy new 240z clutch parts. I thought the flywheel was the same on the Z models through 83, except for the 2+2 versions. I seem to remeber that if you used the same year clutch with parts, you'd be fine. Is this correct??

I have been extremely interested in a turbo conversion for my 1978 280Z. I have been searching around for a few years now on this site... and I understand it's better to just swap in a 280ZXT engine into my car.. but my engine is running VERY strong and has only 100,000 miles on it. I would trust my engine ALOT more than a junkyard one, and i figured would be cheaper. But I am gathering a list of stuff that I need: ( i just need help to see if I miss anything) Turbo Exhuast Manifold Turbocharger and Wastegate Oil Lines Vacuum thinngy (what is the vacuum thing I need? what is it called?) Turbo Injectors Intercooler Intercooler Piping Downpipe Turbo AFM 60mm TB Now I…
