I have located a 83 2+2 Turbo car at a salvage yard. It has a 5 speed and appears to be unmolested. I want to use the 83 as a donor car to build a turbo engine for my 78 but have discovered that it's head is a P90A. I believe the head is a hydraulic lifter head and I will be using a solid lifter cam. Can the P90A head be modified for solid lifters? If not, are P90, solid liter heads readily available and reasonably priced? I need to make a quick decision weather to purchase the 83 or look for another. I can buy this car for $300. Thanks for your input....mayolives

I need to get a new exhaust system as my pipes decided to rust through over the years. I'm on a pretty tight budget and am looking for something that will help out my z. I have a 76 280z with the cat converter. I can get a Nissan exhaust system for $160 but MSA has the "turbo" system for $125 and some guy has been selling Monza exhaust systems on ebay for $137. I only need the pipes past the cat converter and the muffler. Is there anywhere I can find some decent stuff cheaper? And of those and others what do you suggest for a poor kid trying to get his z quiet

What is the proper procedure for doing the timing on a 1978 280z, in the book it just tells you what the timing is, it does'nt tell you if you have to plug the vaccum advance or anything like that. So could somebody help me, Thanks

Is there any one here that knows the difference in the mechanical advance curve in these dist. between the units for a automatic trans and a manual. I know the automatic trans. unit is stamped # 9 and has stiffer springs than the manual stamped #8.5 . I am wondering at what RPM either is going to full advance, and when the vacume advance and the cintrifical starts on each. I have been running a '79 manual model for about 3 yrs on my L-24 , but now I am installing a slightly built 280 and I would like more info. in this area, thanks for any information and or direction as to where I can find it . I am planning on calling in a favor from my old boss who owes me money to have his friend (owns a local machine shop) to refresh my cylinder head (E88) and install a new cam. I was wondering what oddball things he'll need to be especially careful of when redoing this head like not removing the came towers? I know I really should have a shop familiar with Datsuns work on this but hey, it's free?

I recently took off my valve cover off my 73 240z and noticed that the cam had a e30 stamped on it. Is this what all E88 heads have. Sorry if this sound dum but I was wondering if the person before had changed the cam. Thanks in advance to all

Hey all....new here! Its time to rebuild the L28. I drove the car from Bend Oregon 5 years ago and it has been in storage since. My brothers bought me gaskets for christmas. I have a full set of engine gaskets plus a custom copper head gasket from a vendor out in cali. We are planning to pull the engine in two weeks and begin the brake down and inspection. I have low compression on #5-6...so expect the the h/g is blown....but I am also running very low oil pressure at idle. The car is a 77 280, is 10-15 psi normal for idle on that engine? Sounds really low to me. One final question. The copper head gasket is .031 in width. Does anyone think that I will create valve…

In the VB catalog I notice that there are different oil pressure senders. One for 70-77 another 78-83. Which one should I use for my 73 with a F54 block from a 81?

Hey guys, I popped my valve cover off after about 20 minutes of driving to adjust the valves. When I popped it off I saw that the oiler bar closest to the #6 cylinder was so close to one of the lobes of the cam I could almost fill the gap with my thickest feeler gauge! I took the oiler bar off, I knew it was bent but further inspection would reveal much more... When I unscrewed the bolt that held it in, it was off center, meaning the bolt were bent a bit... Then I pounded the resevoir part of the oiler bar assembly back straight. and then got as close of a fit as I was going to get.. When I put the bar back in I noticed when I tightened it even a little it still pul…

Does any body know if the individual throttle bodies used on the Skyline RB motor could be used on an L series engine?
