I have twin weber dgv's on a 73 240z with a 2.5 exhaust. The carbs are not tuned really great but they are the best I can get them. Is there only one screw on DGV's? When I accelerate hard from anywhere around 5-10 miles an hour I will lose all power right when i hit 60 usually right when i shift to third gear. The engine just kinda makes a vrrhhhhhh sound when i try to give it gass, it will slowly rev but wont have any power behind it. I just have to let it sit there while i coast and wait for it to regain itself, then it is fine again. I dont know the psi to the regulator, but i only run an electric fuel pump and there is some type of fuel regulator there (no psi…

Just completed the installation if my rebuilt L24 into Bambikiller and I seem to have a slight problem. I attempted to prime the fuel and oil system by spinning the engine with the starter motor while the ignition is disconnected as I have always done, but I'm not getting any significant reading on the oil pressure guage. Also, when I pull the valve cover it doesn't seem that any oil is squirting onto the cam from the cam oiler tube. Everything else seems fine. Any advice from you experienced engine guys will be appreciated. Thank you!!

Lookin at buying a 78 280Z. I'm not hofay with the 280's and my MSA manual is somewhere in the garage...different story there. It is a fuel injected, 5speed, R200, 14" and a set of 15"s, electric mirrors. How rare are these? How many of the 280 panels fit onto a 240? Is the wheel base longer? Is the FI a better option that to run carbs? What is the availability of FI components? If you change the cam to a stage 1, will a injector upgrade be necessary? The car also comes with a L20 engine and as many bits as I need from the old car. What heads were on the L20's historically. Sorry for all the questions but the car is in the North Island which is some 600 miles away and a 3…

My 3 core radiator has developed a slow leak (where it was repaired once before), so it is time for an upgrade. Has anyone bought an all aluminum crossflow like Griffin that was an "easy" fit? I have some fabrication ability, but don't want to reinvent the wheel. Looks like Griffin has one that is 26 X 19 that might work. Garrett

Hey All, I was all set to adjust the valves on my bone stock '73 240z, however when i went to actually adjust one of the valves clearance i found that a 14mm was almost to the point of slipping off the adjustment nut. A 13mm is too small and just for kicks i tried a 9/16 its the same as the 14mm.:sleepy: . So i'm just wondering if i just need to use an adjustable wrench (which i would hate to do) or is there a special tool needed that is a 13.5mm or something. I guess i could try to file out a 13m so i get a tight fit. What i am really afriad of is round out the adjustment nut itself. Also from what i've checked all the intake valves were snug at .010'' but ALL the …

I learned a great lesson yesterday. My old chevy46 truck has a '54 235 straight 6.Being a low compression,1 barrel carb,I never really thought much about the power or lack of.Sure I put in plugs, points the normal things. Its not real quick. It always cranks right up acts cold by poping and such underlaod until warm, doesn't rev very quick.Yesterday I decided it was time to adjust the valves.DAMN!!The cold nature is gone,it has more power than it ever has.If you told me the motor had been rebuilt I would have believed you.I've always known that the correct valve setting was important but,I had no idea until yesterday. What a great surprise!!So often overlooked yet such a critic…

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about tightening up the slop in the throttle linkage (attached to the firewall then onto the manifold) on a 240? I can't seem to find replacement parts in the MSA or Victoria British catalog. (but, then maybe I'm just blind or missing them!!) Is "shimming" my only option? Thanks!!! Dan

Can anyone explain what ram air is? Can it be used with an SU Carb system? I've been told that it is a form of allowing air into the engine thur an extra "port" on the hood. There is aram air for sale at he Georgia z Club and I'm wondering if its worht my time. Like will it increase hp? Thanks in advance..
