Ok well this week I didn't drive my Z because I was gonna do work on it but having a need to use my car on Sunday i took it out and was being nice to it. So anyway I'm in traffic and trying to change lanes when i hear a bang. I see a bit of smoke and the engine stalls, great I think try to start her nothing crank crank crank she comes to life but I try to accelerate and it dies again. At first I thought a valve had given up but I managed to get it down a side street and start it up again at idle. Idles ok not great ok dies if you rev or try and move. Would not start then blows a heap of blue smoke through the intake. But it's running called a mate with a Z we have no i…

I am looking for an inexpensive option or used. Motorsports has one for about $300 which I think is 7 quart. Any other options? Anyone willing to part with a used one? Thx,

Gday, I just wanna run this past everyone to make sure my thinking is correct. Cylinder No5 doesnt make a difference when i pull the spark lead. when i check the plug its wet with fuel. I've checked plugs and leads and dizzy rotor. When its chugging away on 5 and i spray carb cleaner around the intake the miss goes away. So ive got a manifold leak. This only appeared out of the blue, I just finished wiring a rx7 fuel pump. I tested the pump on the car ran great. Wired it up so as to stop when engine dies. Then after that I started her up i started to get the got problem. I'm SURE the pump isnt the cause. Manifold gasket is prolly only 4-5 months old (The exhaust place i…

Ok, the small of it is, my friend says that some sort of a "wedge" needs to lift the chain off the cam and them I can move the cam to TDC. (top dead center.) The dizzy is in the 10 o'clock position looking from the drivers seat tward the front of the car. Both the intake and exhaust valves are closed. This should be in compression, right? Now I can get the car to start but not run. everything works from fuel to ignition. What could the problem be? I'm planning to rebuild the whole car soon.:dead: :tapemouth starting with the engine. This is just killing me. What should I do about finding the damn timing. My friend also said that I could be 180 degrees off.:stupid: The fu…

Before I tore my car down a while back I had been having some overheating issues. I replaced the radiator and cap, thermostat, and purchased an electric fan from MSA. While my engine was out I replaced the water pump and freeze plugs (noting a LOT of crud in the coolant passages between cylinder jackets). I just got the Z back on the road this week and last night while I was driving through traffic my temp guage kept creeping up to the red several times at stoplights. Today I was determined to figure out what was wrong. I thought it was either the clogged coolant passages or my carbs are too lean (haven't tuned the ones on the car yet because they were on it before an…
