Hi Guys, My 240Z doesn't have a radiator overflow bottle. So what? Yeah good point. 240Z's don't have one from the factory. Well, I have an L28 in my 240Z and I would like to put one on. As she warms up it dumps water out. And as she cools down it sucks air back in. So the level in the radiator slowly creaps down. So I think one would make a great addition, but I want to do it neatly and properly (show car). Has anyone fitted a over flow bottle to their Z? If you have, or even if you haven't can you recommend a bottle off an other car, or maybe even an aftermarket one that is easy to fit to a 240? Thanks In Advance ozLime240Z

Does anyone have a shop manual for a 81 280z? And can you look up the proper piston ring gap for all three rings. I appreciate it.

Hi to everyone, I have recently purchased a 510 2 door rolling shell. I intend to fit a VG30E, 5speed manual and Haltech F9 (fuel only) ECU:classic: Is my choice of engine a good one? I have no experience with the Nissan VG series. Re-conditioning is not an issue, I just want your opinion on my choice of engine, performance, reliability, etc. Thanks guys & gals in anticipation.

I was wondering if there is a huge difference between the 1979 to 1982 5 speed transmissions and the 1983 ones. I understand that in 1983 Borg-Warner built the Z transmissions. Has anyone had trouble finding parts or having reliability issues with a certain year of 5 speed? Thanks for any insight you can provide. Nerdo

I just installed a new thermostat from msa and a new cap... 160 degrees. It never did open when it was supposed to for the two weeks I have had it installed. On the freeway yesterday the temp gauge went almost to the red line :tapemouth before opening. So I pulled over and took it out... problem solved. So I keep thinking why is this happened... my question is: How many pound cap should I be running and if it is wrong can this prevent the thermostat from opening? I am running a 13 LB cap... Also the spring goes down right??? One more ?? which way does the water travel from the top radiator hose.. does it travel into the radiator or does it travel into the block from the …

hey guys, We're trying to get a '73 240z running again after many years of sitting still. The PO had visions of restoring it and did some disassembly and now we have to play connect the hoses without any idea what we're doing. All we have is a service manual (that looks like it's from WWII) with a few pics, and any engine pics we find on this website. Oh yeah, the emissions control system appears to have been mostly removed. 1)The vacuum advance on the distributor: It looks like it should have a vacuum hose attached to it, but it doesn't. Should something be attached here? There is a stray hose on top of the throttle butterfly on the front carb - could we have a matc…

Hey does anyone know where to get electric fans for a early 260z radiator? And perhaps how much it would all cost? I'm told an electric fan can give you a few horsies over the stock fan.

Okay...so high school auto shop was a long time ago... I had some work done on my '73 a couple of years ago. The major piece was the replacing of the flat tops with a couple of round top SUs. The mechanic also put on a pair of those "Ramflow" air filters in place of the original orange air box and filter. This was originally a CA car and so he also ripped all the emission stuff off...I could finally see the engine! Here's my question...I was under the hood the other day and noticed two things: 1) The PCV hose that terminates into the top of the valve cover is just hangin' at the other end. I assume that it originally attached to the orange air filter box. 2) Bot…

WELL, what a week.. My engine is being rebuilt this week. It did look as it would be an easy job... Listen: 1. The cam was broken at one end..so we had to fit a new one (260Z) 2. There was a piece of the valve guide that did get loose at one point and was floating on the top of piston #3... but just a small dent 3. The car was running with the head gasket of a 280ZX (NOW I KNOW WHY IT WAS OVERHEATING) 4. My 240Z 72 has flat piston.. not the curved ones on the top.. 5. There was a broken bracket on the radiator (new one and clean-up) 6. My oil pump was almost dead (so I didi put a bigger one from a 28-ZX Turbo) 7. Timing chain had to be changed (the whole kit from…
