Evans 280z front pully gear 36-1 tooth.dwg I made it out of 1018 steel used a CNC water jet to cut it. I know I was in need of some specs and I finally broke down and made my own and I want to share it with other people who need this. Everyone feel free to use it or modify it. Enjoy!!!

A few months back I had to replace my harmonic balancer on my 77 280z with an aftermarket one. I damaged my stock one reinstalling it after replacing a leaky front main. It's in my "Tackling 2 leaks, rad and front main" thread. Since then I have acquired a stock one from a 75. I would like your opinion on the condition of it from the pics I loaded. Do you think I should have it rebuilt due to the crack in the rubber? Also just noticed a groove in the snout. I measure 1.88 inches above and below the grove and 1.86 inside the groove. I'm thinking the groove isn't going to cause a problem but want your opinion. And not sure I should use it with the crack in the rubber. If yo…

Hi all - I bought a motor a few years ago from John Williams Racing. I am finally getting ready to install it, and was trying to ID the camshaft. It is an E30 cam, but appears to be a regrind. On the back of the cam, closest to the firewall, there is a hand done engraving, reading "Sidewinder B31-180". I have no idea what it means. All help is appreciated - I need to figure out if this cam will work with my carbs. Thanks!

I am looking at replacing my stock harmonic balancer with a performance unit since the rubber ring in my original is cracking and crumbling. However, the Euro style balancer that MSA and ZCar Depot sells indicates it does not accept stock pulleys. The Professional Products balancer 428-90055 says it is similar to the original Euro balancer. At some I would like to add air conditioning to my 240z and want to make sure I invest in the right balancer. Is anyone running a performance balancer and AC in their Z car? If so, can you provide any details that you have? Thank you!

Picked up a 77 280z that will be my winter project. PO told me that he had a "Slalom grind cam" installed. I have searched all the Z forums and the internet in general and can't find anything definitive on this cam. If anyone knows anything about it please let me know, benefits or not. Thanks

Howdy. My 'other' head. Its been worked, large valve seats(I measure 38/44). casting mark has been ground off. there's a machining stamp, 0.020, CC's measure about 42 with one small valve in, so nearer 40-41. Maths make it about 3.6cc removed, so N42? Looks right from pics of a stock one? Any thoughts? I was going to perform the same to my e31, however that can wait till the future.

I'm building a new engine. I'll use the L28 N42 block bored .040 over with an L24 crank and rods, L28 P79 flat-top pistons and a high quench P79 head shaved and shimmed .080 inches (should be 9.2 to 1 C/R). What this will be is a very over-bored L24 because I really like the higher revving L24's and bigger is always better.....right? Anyone build this motor before or heard of anyone else building it? I'll update as I build on.

I looked into this upgrade, and all the information was aimed at the 240Z, which is great because it uses points. One article was for the upgrade on a 77, but the wiring on a '78 is different enough that I think it deserves its own writeup. The connection of the GM HEI module to the distributor seems fine, but what do you do with the ignition box inside the car? So, is there a writeup for the GM HEI module upgrade specifically for the 1978 280Z, using the stock 280Z distributor, not the ZX one? thxZ
