I bought a new master cylinder for the clutch and I am trying to bleed the system but it seems like the master isn’t building up pressure at all. Any advice on bleeding the system I feel like there’s a fair amount of air in the line. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hi: I found my cam tower bolts on the passenger (higher) side loose. I torqued them to 13 ft lbs. My question is what about the driver side cam tower bolts that share the same space as the head stud bolts? I checked and they are tightened very tight. Are the driver side anchoring in the engine block or the head? Should I loosen them and retorque to 11-13 ft lb? Thanks. Howard ’74 260z

Hi everyone: I just adjusted the valves on my 260z (first time ever performing valve adjustment on any car). I did get the engine hot and had all my tools ready and I had antiseize on the sparks plugs. It took me a while and by the time I was done with the last set the engine was barely warm. I’m thinking I should try it again with the engine still hot when I’m done? I also had to redo several of them as I was tightening the lash was thrown off and when I double checked it was too tight and I had to redo it. Any tips for holding the setting while tightening the 17mm locknut? Lastly is it ok to get the 17mm locknut really tight with a wrench, then come…

I searched and need some help changing my speedometer gear. 280z 5 speed tranny. 300zx turbo clsd 3.7 diff So I bought an 18 tooth “blue” speedo gear to match the ratio of my diff for an accurate speedometer reading. I went to change it out and install new O rings and pulled out a purple 21 tooth gear. The teeth part of the 21 teeth purple gear is larger in diameter than the blue 18 tooth gear I’m trying to swap out. I did some research and my understanding is that the 20-23 teeth speedo gears use a different housing for the correct angle of the larger sized tooth gear offset. About a year ago when I bought my 06/71 240Z someone was spending lots o money on good parts and the engine has been rebuilt or so I was told. The previous owner was gonna build it to do some racing with I heard. Well that never happened thank goodness. I can tell someone was buying great parts cause I got all of it with the car back then. It has a brand new still has break in grease on the cam lobes Schneider 274F grind cam in the head. I went to Schneider's site sounds like a groovy little mild cam. Car came with 6 into 1 headers and a lot of cosmetic stuff. Anyone ever ran this cam? Any comments about this cam with 6/1 headers? Thanks

Hi everyone, My car is using a 280zx distributor, I checked my timing last week in anticipation of fine tuning my carbs. It was set at 15 degrees and I wanted to check on this forum to see what was best for my set up. The consensus after searching was 10 degrees. So I go to use my timing light and holy *** my timing is way off at 25 degrees. When I turn the distributor it will come down to 20 degrees before stopping it's range of movement. I thought maybe my harmonic balance slipped and messed up my TDC mark. So I put the engine to TDC with the pulley detent at the zero mark, #1 piston on compression stroke, intake and exhaust valves lobes pointed up an…

I am removing the radiator electric fan sensor [sucks]and going to install it in the radiator hose with the hose adaptor . some people say to install in the upper hose and others say to install it in the bottom hose. so some say the upper hose will read the hot water coming out of the motor hotter than what is going in and others say to control the water going into the motor . my stat is a 180 degree and the sensor is a 180 degree that will close the contact at 192 degrees to turn on the fan. so where is ever body installing these sensors on this z forum? thanks
