Starting to tear into my front end and was searching internet for new tie rods, and came across remanufactured steering racks as well. So now I have a couple questions . First if there are any recommendations for new tie rods? Second, do the steering racks go bad? I have no idea the conditions of mine. The boots are trash but I was just going to replace. Is it worth buying a remanufactured one? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Howdy folks, I was able to finally track down a BCDD (Boost Controlled Deceleration Device) for my early (9/75) 1976 280Z and wanted to share with the community as well as ask some questions. Here is a picture of the device for an early 76: Note that the altitude corrector is flush to the bottom of the outer housing and is similar in appearance to a set screw. On the side you can see the screw which locks it in place. Note the orientation of the screws, 3 are used to attach the BCDD to the Throttle Body, 3 are used to keep the sections of the BCDD where the diaphragms are together and the last one is just to keep everything aligned. I accidentally t…

I hear lots of contradicting info about this, but my stock 76 has a stock 3 spd automatic transmission. The odometer shows 85,000 and is likely accurate, judging by the rest of the car, but it could theoretically be 185,000. The car is 40 some years old. The service records never indicated a transmission fluid change. I know I would NOT want to flush it, but would dropping the pan and changing the filter/refilling be a good idea? (I've done this job on other vehicles, got the transmission oil bath...) I'm not having any problems, it is shifting great. Also, what would be a good fluid to use to refill? I assume it hasn't been using synthetic. Th…

After installing my engine and trans as a single unit I cannot compress the slave cylinder enough to bolt it back up. The clutch fork won't move worth a ****, even if I put leverage on it with a wrench. I'd rather pull the motor than the transmission at this point. I hate this car.

Hello again gentleman, so I bought a 72 with a seized engine. I've read it's fairly common from car siting for 10+ years. I've read about the mystery oil and ATF, coke and even read about towing the car and popping the clutch to free up engine. I just received the car last Friday and What I'm trying first is mystery oil soak. It's been 4 days and nothing. I'm thinking about pouring some HOT ATF and trying that. Has anyone had success on freeing up a seized engine? Also, I need ideas for trying to turn the crank pulley instead of just the bolt, I'm worried it will break. Maybe even taking starter out and try turning the flywheel with a pry bar. What do yo…
