https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/anaerobic-gasket-makers-flange-sealants/permatex-anaerobic-flange-sealant/ for this the two places one on the block where the rear main bolts and some on what looks like the inside groove of the bearing cap where the rubber side seals go. Not it give very specific coverage areas, but the illustration leave a bit unclear on the bearing cap, I ASSUME its just applied to one side of the groove. I search and search and searched, seems so many conflicting info, thought I would bring it up again.

The resurrection project will need a complete engine rebuild. Slowly moving along with the work as time and money permits. Disassembly requires little money so I have the head removed and prepping it for machine work. Besides the 3 broken studs, the rear exhaust was snapped off beneath the head surface when I bought the car, the other 2 I snapped with the disassembly process. The front cam bearing is seized on a rusty camshaft. The rear 3 slid right off, the #2 bearing needed just a slight bit of persuasion after several days of spraying Blaster. #1 is still tight. Questions for getting head ready for machine work. Should the oil galley plugs be removed? Should …

The speedometer O-ring kit was replaced on our 240z not too long ago, and now it's leaking transmission fluid from that same area again. Any idea why it's leaking again so fast? It's only been about 5 months since the new o-ring kit was installed.

I'm having trouble finding a simple answer (maybe there isn't one?) to the question of: are the L8 and L4 stamped transmissions exactly the same? The problem trany is in a 81 zx Base and the donor was in a 80 zx non turbo. Base has the L4 and the donor is stamped L8? Any help appreciated. Chuck

what do you think, I see oil leaking right at the pan gasket joint. I am hoping its not the rear seal.

Some may be interested in a bit of data that I collected yesterday. Ran my Z on the dyno all day, testing various jetting and playing with timing (first with E12-80 and then with 123ignition dizzy). The goals of this project was to learn, as it was my first engine build, try different things even if they go against "conventional wisdom", and enjoy playing in the sandbox that is Z-cars. Ran it on the Dynapack at Works Motorsports, where I used to work (no pun intended). Steve aka Datsuncrush, the owner of my previous 260Z, came by for support and videography! Basic engine specs are: flat-top L28 (0.5mm over), shaved and ported P90, Isky L6 g…

Good evening, I just purchased a second L28 motor to rebuild into a stroker. I currently have a 72 240z with an L28 but want more power. I just came across an 82 Maxima Diesel that has 160k on the motor, the engine is running and for sale $1k, I have some questions and need advice? It appears the LD28 cranks arerunning about $2k on eBay, this appears to be a good deal but I am not sure if I need to do anything to the crank once I extract it, based on those miles, should I have any concern about that crank? Is there anything else from that engine that is valuable (less worried about that). Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

To start, I have a '78 Black Pearl, (Real638), which I've owned since early '81. The car has not been driven since around 1990, & I just started working on bringing it back to life a couple of months ago. The engine had never been apart - it made it 184K & still ran ok when parked. It is missing the rear lifting lug & for all I know it may have been gone when I bought the car. I know the issue of broken rear exhaust manifold studs has been covered several time before, but I'm not satisfied with the explanations I've seen for this & I can't find an answer on how to solve the problem. From what I've read the hook is gone & the stud broken on nearly all 1…
