Hey mates This past week my transmission has developed a highly annoying vibration that is heard through the shifter - most notably through the awesome wooden knob on the top. It only occurs in 1st, 3rd and 5th gear but not at all in 2nd or 4th. Any ideas? I am thinking its the shifter bushing but would like a group's opinon. Basic description. Imagine if you will a sound of wood vibrating....amplfy it slighly and add a slight metalic noise to it and bam. Thanks all Jan

So after pulling a zx transmission I noticed the clutch was barely worn and still had the writing valeo on the disc. Is it worth it to take it? The flywheel had some light surface rust but nothing major. I have no idea if I have a 240 clutch and flywheel or not as I'm running an l28 4 speed. I'm thinking about going back and taking just the disc or the whole kit and kaboodle. Are 240 and 280zx clutch disc's compatible with eachother? The clutch disc is 17 dollars Pressure plate is 17 dollars Flywheel is 25 dollard

I had to remove the cam oiler/spray bar to fix a wonky rocker arm on my new-to-me '72. It looked like there was a silicone sealer between the bar and cam towers. Manuals don't seem to address any type of gasket or goo at these contact points and I don't see a definitive answer in previous, similar threads. Other than using as little of something as possible, is there consensus on whether or not and what product would be best? Not making any mods at the moment, just trying to get her runnin'

Hey guys I just pulled the front diff of a nissan 720 4x4. I wanted the 4.11 but ended up with the 4.38 which is fine. I'm a little confused because when I pulled the speedo gear it was yellow. From my understanding it should be purple. Any ideas??

So I am looking for an LSD for my r200 carrier and I came across this diff that was for sale. I spoke to the vendor and he said that it wasn't an LSD even though it sure looks like one. Can someone maybe ID it?

I recently purchased a 274F Datsun L-6 Cam shaft 107 degrees carbureted with .175 thick lash pads for a 1972 Datsun 240z from Schneider Cams. Anyway they dont sell the rocker arms to be used with this cam shaft. Can someone recommend a rocker arm set that will fit perfectly with this set up and point out a good source for it? Thanks!!

Hi Z-guys First real post in here Im in the middle of a minor rebuild, weel now i guess it is a major. Ill start a rebuild thread later on. I've bought an US import car here in Denmark, which is a 1971 240z, with matching number L24 and E31 head. Ive been reading up on this forum, about the con and pro's for the head - all very good I thought. I must admit that when i bought the car I thought that the rough idle was due to long term parking and etc etc. But later i found out from a compression test that cylinder 5 was not doing what the other five cylinder was doing :/ Only 6,5 bar 96 psi. What i hoped was bad rings and a quick rebuild, what I found was …

I've been smoothing the intake and exhaust ports and will be matching port sizes as soon as my gasket comes in. Does it look like the valves were unshrouded before the bigger valves were installed? I don't know myself, all I've done is read and looked at pictures so I'm guessing they were? EDIT: the E-31 was with a project car I bought so I know nothing about what was done before I got it. Thanks for looking, Cliff

Hello all, Just finishing up the final touches on my auto to 4 speed swap on my 1971 240z. Top up the fluids and hook the speedometer cable back up and I should be back on the road. The issue is I don't remember how the cable was originally routed? Anyone have any underbody pictures? There is a bracket on the cable which looks like it may have attached to the dust over on the torque converter bell housing, but it would come awfully close to the exhaust manifold down pipe. I'd say within 3 inches. This worries me. Help would be appreciated so I can start this thing up in the morning!
