hey guys I am following threads and checked older ones too. My situation is a little different, I have the original aftermarket dealer installer AC in my 71 240Z. It works for crap. I'm looking for an EFFECTIVE AC conversion. I don't mind taking up some of the passenger foot compartment, the aftermarket already does. I often cruise alone anyway. PS - I have an 83 turbo in the car and LIVE IN FLORIDA !!!! ANY HELP APPRECIATED

I wanted to start a discussion about the 280z HVAC. It’s a bit confusing to me and I need some education to make the proper decisions to move forward. My car is a stock AC car so it has two HVAC control valves. One is a vacuum valve for the AC and the other a mechanical valve with a thermostatic sensor for the heater. This sensor has a coiled copper wire that sits under the heater core and the other end goes to the heater valve. I’m not sure how all these devices work together. My reading leads me to believe this system is all that great, not to mention stock components are in the unobtainable category. First are there modern valve alternatives…

Last Wednesday, I completed the final phase of my fresh motor rebuild with the AC system upgrade to a new Vintage Air Sanden 508 compressor and replacement of the air drier. (my system was already converted to r134a by Nissan years ago) All went well, drew down a vacuum and let it sit overnight - no leaks, charged the system with 27oz of r134a, and now have 42 F air out the vents. Below are the original and new flex line hoses I needed to complete the hookup to the new compressor. Parts needed are 2' of number 8 and number 10 ac hose, a #8 135 degree o-ring fitting with service port on left, #10 135 degree o-ring fitting with port on right, 90 degree #8 flare fi…

I am in the process of restoring my 280z and am new to this forum and Z's in general. My first goal is to get the engine out and have started removing and documenting many parts in the engine compartment. I've run into a hurdle and need some guidance. The AC condenser line bolts are stubborn and I cannot get them unscrewed to allow me to remove it. I've sprayed pb blaster and it's just stuck. Will it be okay for me to just cut the line? I see many cars that have been restored just have a radiator. Thanks in advance! Sent from my SM-G991U1 using Tapatalk

Can someone please tell me the best place to buy a complete ac system for my 1976 280z? I would prefer a vintage air system . I called vintage air and they want me to buy piece by piece and I am not familiar enough with the system to do that. Thanks Ken

The original replacement for the 78 is either not available or extremely high priced. Mine has the 2 hose fittings and 1 switch fitting at slightly odd angles. A filter/drier for a 79 280ZX is very inexpensive, hose fittings appear to be the same size but angled differently, a switch port is capped off also at a slightly different angle than the original. Will that part #33416-FOUR SEASONS-work in my 78 280Z with some plumbing modifications ( it will be needing all new hoses and lines anyway) and some bracket modification. I think I remember seeing a YOU TUBE video of that bracket being cut off and using the original mount bracket. I am not very knowledgeable on A/C…

I need to flush my evaporator and I am wondering if anyone has any experience doing this? The problem that I see is how to backflush. I have never flushed an AC system so any help will be appreciated. I am assuming that I have to take the expansion valve out of the system. can pull the existing expansion valve and flush the #10 line going to the firewall but how do I flush the other direction? How do I insure the flushing liquid goes thru the evaporator coils before it exits back toward where the drier hooks up? Do I need the make a fake expansion valve the will have a barbed end to attach the flushing solution to and the other end machined to bolt into the expansion val…

Hello, I am in a slight pickle right now. I just ordered and received an Air Condition kit from AutoACSolutions and plan on installing the kit soon as the heat is unbearable in my car. I am unable to find any Harmonic Balancers for sale that have an extra pulley groove for an AC belt! I checked everywhere online and even saw one on Autozone that I ordered and the ordered got cancelled as the manufacturer doesn't make it anymore. The other option I see is potentially mounting up an addon pulley to my current balancer, I currently have the Performance Harmonic Dampener from Motorsport Auto (https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic12d02a/10-2139) Is the…

I'm in the process of installing a Vintage Air GEN II Mini into my '72 S30. I've read many threads on both this and the HybridZ websites and gleaned quite a lot of useful information. However, one thing which has pretty much NOT been covered in any of those threads is how folks have routed the lines to the condenser and then on to the drier. Drier mounting locations are also variable. Mounting the Vintage Air 12" x 24" condenser, you can have the ports on either the driver or passenger side. One of the hoses (from the compressor or to the drier) then has to go across the bulkhead. BTW, I'd imagine the drier always has to be on the passenger side somewhere --…
