Hi everyone, I’m really wanting to add a/c to my stock 77 280z. Unfortunately the car did not come with it so I’m looking into what my options are for adding it. I can’t find any reviews of people that have added it so I’m not sure where to start. Any advice from anyone that has done this would be very helpful! Thanks y’all!! My car came to me with one of those huge York compressors and brackets hanging off the passenger side of the engine. It didn't work and I took it off because it was in the way. I would like to have air again, though, but thought it would be nice to use the four threaded holes on the left side of the engine block. I bought the adjuster brackets from Summit for $45, and welded them to a flat plate. Had to make a few trips to the store to find the right belt. It clears everything, and the compressor is easily removed, installed, or adjusted. I think it should work well.

Howdy, Some members (including me) have been switching over to a Vintage Air setup, I ran into a problem on my setup which was that the heater was not getting warm. This is just for a record if anyone else has the issue with a Vintage Air Gen 2 5 Wire Heater Valve. Note you have a 3 year warranty on these things, so email their support and get them to send you another one before opening it up. I removed the valve, plugged it into the control module, got ACC power on, and moved the heater switch around to test the connection, it looked like the block valve was stuck. Upon opening the valve up, there was grease all over the contact board that allows the heate…

Has anyone had any experience deleting the heater core from the cooling loop? While debugging some unrelated issues on my '70 240Z, my heater outlet hose decided to crack and start leaking coolant all over the place. I had bought replacement input/output hoses a while ago and just never installed them because it seemed like too much of a pain. That assumption was verified today - after a ripped cardboard glovebox, some busted knuckles and a half-removed blower fan I've decided this is a rabbit hole I just don't want to go down any further right now. I live in Southern California so having a functional heater just isn't a big issue for me right now. Here's my …

Ok, so I'm restoring my 73 240, and ran across a few threads about the Gen system A/C unit which I plan to install in the future. I read where the fresh air duct up in the cowl wont be needed. So I just finished making a new duct and patch repair to weld in. The question is, a, I spitting in the wind to do all this? Should I just weld in a blank and be done with it?

When I select vent on panel the heat comes on. All vacuum lines have been replaced. I have traced the problem to under the dash heat/control panel. When I touch the vacuum selector valve it will cause other AC/ defrost / heat doors to open. Is there anybody that has one of these valves? Can’t find one anywhere. Thanks, Tracy

So you put that big shiny Ebay Aluminum rad in your Z, and you go out to test it on a really hot day. You’ve been having problems keeping the beast cool and you’re sure this massive shiny 3 core magical heat exchanger will solve all your problems. Everything is fine, until a gravel truck in front of you starts spewing loads of nice sharp little rocks at you and your nice new shiny rad. Soon you start smelling the telltale odor of sickly sweet anti freeze and the soon to follow cloud of steam ensues. Oh crap.... You get it home, rip that POS out and put your old brass stocker rad back in until you get this thing fixed. Now who fixes aluminum rads these days? You…

I'm looking for the appropriate AC system mineral oil for the factory AC in my 78Z. The FSM call for SUNISO 5GS. I've spent about the last 2 hours scouring the internet for this product, but, other than obscure listings from questionable (or expensive) overseas websites I've not had any luck finding it. I'm wondering if there is a suitable substitute product that i might purchase that isn't too expensive, will lubricate the system appropriately, and is available in, say, a 1 quart to 1 gallon size. Thank you for any ideas you might pass along.

Still chasing down a few gremlins on the Z I bought last year. Was under the hood and noticed all of this build up on the condenser. I am assuming this is most likely the Mineral oil in the R12 leaking out?
