Hi guys, Figured I'd keep both in here instead of making two posts. #1: It seems my 'mode (heater) door' is not closing fully. When I look under the dash via the driver side footwell, i can see that the mode-door's vacuum pod is fully closed (down/retracted/no vacuum to the pod) when "vent" or AC is selected, I still can feel a little bit of hot air coming out from the hot air vent under the dash. Is there a way to fix this or are they all like that? #2: Is there a way on an s30 to get recirculating air rather than strictly vent? The reason I'd like this is that when the AC is running, it is pulling/cooling air from inside the cabin but when I switch the…

I'm In the process of back together my A/C system and have a few questions. First off, I have the drier that the flare fittings are right next to each other and not offset like the 33286 drier. Since I have this type, can I just use a direr from a 280zx? And if I do will it have the pressure switch? Second, I believe it will be easier in the long run just to use R134a so what all needs to be done to prep for this? I have no clue what the state of the system from my car was because the PO took it apart... Also I went ahead and picked up another full system off of another Z to replace some of the mangled and seized copper tubes.

Found the source of that sweet smell in the cabin. Looks like these two hoses are the culprit. I'm having a hard time finding the part numbers on zcarsource and on the cooling system section on the fsm. Can anyone point me to the right direction. I don't need to have the braided hoses, rubber is just fine. Is this one of the hoses? https://zcarsource.com/heater-hose-transfer-on-heater-inlet-260z-280z-74-78-new Also, after finding that leak, I decided to wipe the car down. Found out that something fell on the hood while in the garage and just wrecked the paint. It was not a good day.

AC Hose Clips for Plenum for connecting flex hose 73" 240z

Does anyone know where I can get a dozen attachment clips that go on an aftermarket plastic plenum hole in order to attach 2 inch flex hose. I would prefer no flex plastic ties since they tend to come unattached to the plenum hose after a while. The small clips have a slightly upward backside that once you install the hose over it, the hose is restrained from coming loose. This is for a 73 240z that I am restoring. I have tried many companies to no avail. Unfortunately the ac is no longer madeso getting them from that company cannot be done. Thanks

Dead of winter in Michigan, an old man's fancy turns towards tinkering with old Datsuns. I'm working on a '72 and need heater control knobs. I'm find the early ones stupid pricey. Will the later ones not fit or are they just wrong? I don't care about "wrong" just that they fit. I even went so far as to model them for 3-D printing, turned out "okay" but by the time I get them functional I could have bought them. Before I spend hours trying to get my printed ones working, will newer style fit? Or any other style?. Also we need a heater control cable clamp. One of these: https://smhttp-ssl-72803.nexcesscdn.net/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_imag…

My kid made me drag home a '72 240z. It's pretty cool. Now it's cold outside. We'll put it away soon Mom, we promise. But in the mean time, how about some heat? So I'm trying to figure out how it's supposed to work. Car has A/C. As of right now turning on the fan blows air out the side and middle vents. What is supposed to redirect the air to the heater box and associated ducting? While we're at it what turns the AC compressor on/off? I assume the one fan motor, in the A/C stuff (passenger foot well) blows for both cold and hot, and something in the controls somewhere is supposed to direct that air in the right direction. There's a control cable that heads over…

I have fabricated a new door in the heater box and repaired the original shaft with some weld and lots of grinding. It is all working pretty smoothly and want to cover the door with something similar to the foam/vinyl that was originally on the rusted away door. My great wife bought some padded vinyl from Joann Fabrics but not sure if that would be the best option. Any suggestions will be appreciated and also what adhesive works the best? Lots of different spray adhesives out there for headliners but I have never used any before. Thanks again, John-Lugoff, SC.

Well as anyone knows that lives in a hot climate the 240 air blows. Well actually it sucks and that's the problem. The blower motor sucking through the evaporator is not a very good arrangement. After doing a bit of research I opted to go with the Vintage Air unit. The tipping point for me was the fact that they use servo motors to control the flaps and this will work out better for me in the future. After you get rid of all of the old heater and ac unit there is a ton of room back there. The first picture is of my old unit which this being a Z car forum you all have seen before. This is the GEN II Mini with the brackets I fabbed up for mounting. With this bracket a…
