I bought my car with a bad valve and Gates heater hoses that were bent so bad they pinched themselves off. All new Nissan pre bent hoses and valve ready to go on but I'd like to check the heater core for cracks/leaks while it's in the car. Thought about temporary hoses to fill it with water then either applying negative pressure with a vacuum or positive with my air blowing attachment on my air compressor. Any thoughts on trying something like this? Thanks for any advice. Cliff

My car is a 2/71 production date. I have my heat/vent control system apart because the levers were either hard to move or wouldn't move at all. I have cleaned and greased the cables and getting ready to reassemble everything. I found a period correct AM radio and am installing it as well. My question is what, if anything, attaches or mounts to the two holes in the attached photo. The holes are threaded. Thanks for any info, --Thomas

AC stopped working, no Freon left, leaked out thru the old condenser, so todays project was to fix that. remove the air filter (pita) the rubber boot was the hardest part of it, trying to get it off. I ended up undoing it at the AFM and snaking the boot out the hole in the rad support. After I got it out I decided to go ahead and get that booger off, them put some soap on it to make it easy to re install. Put that a side and on to the 4 bolts that hold the cond/rad (same bolts). loosen the connection at the condenser, the one on the driver side requires un bolting the AFM and moving it aside (leave wire harness on). use a some open end (22/24) stubby wren…

I'm getting ready to replace the hoses and "**** water" valve on my 240's heater core. I'm going to pressure test it somehow before I go to all the trouble of installing new parts. My question is, does the heater core build up as much pressure as the radiator after I shut the car down? I know the radiator cap will blow off if I loosen it while hot. I'm on the fence about hooking it back up knowing there's a high pressure, high temp bomb behind my radio. Thanks for any help.

Thought this might help some people with 280Z and original dealer installed AC systems. Finding the correct replacement receiver for 75 and 76 280Z's can be difficult. If you have one with offset connections and the pressure switch on the top they are quite rare. Four Seasons part number is 33286. Found a supplier in Canada that has them in stock with the correct positioning of fittings. $63.29 CDN https://www.thewrenchmonkey.ca/products/auto-parts/four-seasons/33286/

Hi... I bought one of the kits for installing an Air Conditioner in my 1976 280Z, from Air Parts in Texas. They said it would have "every item needed to install it", included in the box. Unfortunately, now that it is installed, it apparently is the wrong item, as It does not fit correctly! They are willing to pay the return shipping, and give a full refund. We are looking for a different unit, now as we have to remove this one. So I am asking if anyone has had success placing an AC into a 1976 280 Z??? Including the radio in it's correct spot. If you have, please tell me what brand and model unit you have used. And any other specifics you might know …

Hi, I have '75 280z and it comes with nice big pet-bottle style vacuum tank. I wonder whether I can just swap this with 280zx smaller size vacuum tank with valves to save space and clean up. swap with 280zx vaccum tank. Do you think there is any problem? Thanks, tamo3

I got the inspection plate off, video coming, looks pretty good, but I would like to freshen up the seam sealer around the base. I have some butyl seam sealer that would work great where I can get to it but the back and the side towards the middle of the car have very limited access. I am thinking plumber putty, make up a rope of it and snake it back then work it in.

Hi All, I have been recently diagnosed with bad allergies that keep me indoors during the summer heat and humidity. To the point of I'm nearly going to pass out. This is a real bummer for a fun living Z car driver, without air conditioning. I have been given an increase of my social security with the passing of my husband. Both bad and good news. This has enabled me to have some extra $ for things needed on my lovely 1976 Z, RedBird. I am asking you all, just what is involved with getting her non-working AC, or needing to be totally replaced AC, in her working? How do I find someone that is skilled with Z's to do the work? What do I need to know before s…

I have finally fixed the old air conditioning with a new rotary compressor and am getting cold air. There doesn't seem to be any direction on how to set the environmental control levers in the dash for the best use of the ac. Would someone please let me know where the levers need to be set? Obviously the heat needs to be off, but where else are the levers set? Thanks, Charlie
