Pulled out this car after a long slumber. I purchased over 20 years ago in Orlando area from original purchaser family. Windshield shows last inspection in April 1981… Original windshield, 4 side windows dated 12/69. Hatch glass 3/70. Interior all there. Hoping to do a light refresh/clean of interior, drop the suspension, clean and paint. Engine needs to be rebuilt….”matching numbers”. Dog legs being replaced small rust area under drivers seat between alignment “flap” from rear body and floor 2”x2”. Green Tan…. My favorite combo… Wet blasting hood revealed surprisingly…. A virtually perfect hood..!!!!

I got an itch to acquire another Z last year... This car on Bring-a-Trailer got my attention and I couldn't let it go. A project car, the previous owner acquired most of the important rubber parts, a NOS dash, a bunch of spares, etc. and did very little to it other than keep it stored in his garage in the Denver CO area for over 25 years. Prior to that, it was in Arizona. So, having restored one Z which had a fair amount of rust, I was super excited to think about restoring one with next to none. I've been at it for a little over a year now, and so I have a pretty good amount of the work done. My hope is that within the next 12 months, I can complete the restoration…

I have been remotivated by Wheee! and siteunseen and others build threads. So I have decided to get serious about getting this car running and finished. So to keep up with the Jones or the Jones'n in Cliffs case I decided to start a build thread to sort of bring everyone up to speed on where I'm at... Bought the car from a guy in Charlotte that had it shipped from out West. He is registered here but really spends more time at Hybrid Z That was late 2008 or early 2009... Stripping the car down Sept 2009 Chipping sound mat out January 2011 Don't you wish you could be that happy about chipping out sound mat

Well I’m back under a new name I guess . Been so long that the site didn’t recognize Madkaw !? Maybe I can get my name back . Meanwhile I will try to document my latest project . 4858 came to me as an urgent -save the car before it gets towed - sale . I was actually at work driving trains . I saw the owner posting that he had to sell this car today , and have it moved or the landlord was going to have it towed off . No title or registration . I had seen the car previously when visiting the owner who also had a non running 280z sitting at an apartment parking lot . It looked pretty straight but it was a quick peek during a visit . Next thing I know it needs a…

HLS30-00042 arrived this afternoon for a complete restoration. Boy, this an early one, complete with the original clear rear window. It's a little beat up, but most of the parts are there. I own HLS30-02614 in the same color, so by the time I am finished they should be looking like twins. The motor runs, which is great, but it will undergo a complete rebuild. Amazingly, the head still has the overspray on the lower portion, which is pretty rare to see. I will see if the machine shop can leave that intact. There are still a few wire clamps in there and the owner has a metal fan (and a number of other key parts), so we should be able to get the engine bay looking…

I have already posted all over the forum, so I will add links to work I've already done as much as possible to avoid double-posting. This will be to consolidate the work. Should have done this from the start back in the Spring, for whatever reason I didn't notice the Build Thread section back then. My "toy" car has been a Bertone / Fiat X1/9 (mid engine) since around 2007. That car evolved over the years. The last major revisions were a Dallara replica wide body conversion (2016-2018), and then a Honda K24/AST5M drivetrain conversion (2018-2020). I do all my own work. Now that is essentially 'done' (not in need of major changes or constant fiddling) & really onl…

In 2015 when I created my account, I included "On track for world's slowest restoration..." Did most of the disassembly several years ago. Almost 10 years later and not getting any younger. One kid left in college. Time to get serious. I want to do some of the work myself (mostly assembly and interior stuff), but things like bodywork and paint, engine, and transmission will be left to the pros. Anyone know of a good restoration shop in the southeast US? Most of the ones I find are either American muscle cars (we are in NASCAR country) or want to work on only high end European cars, such as Ferrari, Jaguar, etc. and have prices to match. About the car..…

I have decided that the wiring on my '73 is going to be complicated enough to warrant it's own build thread. I will post the high level stuff in the full-car build thread (https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51541-1973-rebuild/#comments), but the details and back and forth conversation will be here. This is going to be a huge learning process for me since I have no experience in this area. With that said, this is where I am with this so far… When I got the car, the harnesses were installed, but the car was otherwise stripped. I pulled the harnesses, gave them a cursory dusting off and stuffed them into a box. The dash harness is still on the dashboard…

Hi all, I've just received my 1973 240z! The previous owner towed it out from MO for me along with piles and piles of parts. We went over it together and it's in better shape than I expected (it was a Craigslist transaction over the phone between MO and NJ). I'm sure that I'll start finding nasty surprises once I start into it, but for now I'm basking in the glory of having a Z in my garage.

Well hello everybody. i'd like to introduce myself. I'm Nils, coming from switzerland and about two year ago i started work on a S30Z i bought. I now have a few restored parts, a lot of repair-parts lying around but the chassis was in bad condition because of earlier bad repair attempts by previous owners and a few crash-damages. Check out the whole story here: http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11769 then i had to decide if i would have a bodyshop to bring everything back to original condition or look out for a second car with a better base. Some weeks ago i got a notice from two friends telling me they saw a sad Z hanging around with no roo…

Having been declared in 1995 as “under restoration” #51 has sat quietly waiting for someone to put her back together., I thought I’d share my sure to be slow resto project……good, the bad, and the ugly. Pulling a clear glass, 09/69 dated rear hatch glass from the clutches of a dry rotted hard gasket isn’t for the faint of heart…. Trusty hammer, screw driver……😃

Hi everyone! My name is Mark and I will be restoring my 1976 280Z coupe HLS30-271295 starting this year. I look forward to your feedback and help as I am sure most of you have a lot of experience with restoring your own cars! I am hoping you will all chip in and help me avoid some common pitfalls and mistakes along the way. I will post photos and updates as I go. For now, these are pics of the day I picked up the car in Calgary in March of last year.
