Hey guys, Well, it looks like my restoration project is back on track. We blew the dust off the car and moved the project to a new home in Salem for the job. Bryon Nichols, an active Datsun guy and college student, is currently working on my car in the Ztherapy garage. He offered to put the car back together to make a few extra dollars before starting school. Byron is a student in mechanical engineering and, let me tell you, is very meticulous in his work. The Ztherapy garage is an excellent and fun place for any Datsun enthusiast to know about. Aside from the obvious restoration of SU carburetors (which most Zcar fans know about), they also work on vintage race ca…

I had high hopes of documenting step by step the restoration of my 72 but life got in the way. I am going to post on this thread going forward and turn back the clock a few months. Car was a good clean California car almost rust free car but needed love just about everywhere. Paint is driver quality so my plan is to do what I can to make it a nice driver with intentions to paint later.

Meet Looey, my new 1973 Fairlady Z. She moved from Japan to USA with a returning service man, then believed to have spent most of her time in Louisville Kentucky. Now owned by an Australian living in Boston. Previous owner had her for 21 years (almost to the day). Has been restoring it since he acquired her. Put just over 1000 km on the clock over the years. Speedo reads 89k - not sure if rolled over. Looey has not been started for 4 years. She will need some coaxing to come back to life... Plans Stage 1 - Running & Registered Stage 2 - Fix high priority items - interior fixes, seals, etc. Stage 3 - Remove flares and body fixes. Stage 4 - …

Well it seems to be a few threads showing updates to members projects and as I did not want to be left out here are a few photos of my car. The first one is a before and after of the TC rail area. Before I sealed it up I ran a borescope up the rails and found the rail gone behind the support plate over the front cross member. Again a before and after, from the outside you could not tell there was a problem it just looked like a bit of surface rust around the plate (glad I did the borescope). Next is the rocker panel under the front fender, I used the Tabco part for this repair. The last three are the progress on the drivers rear 1/4. I picked up a set of rear 1/4's thi…

I didn't want to start a rebuild thread until I had done enough so there was something to see, so here goes. 1970 240z, 4 owners before me and apparently none of them were mechanically inclined as I have hundreds of bills and receipts going back to 1978 for the simplest of jobs. The car also has had some really poor body work done on it that will have to be removed and repaired. Here she is the day I brought her home last March, it looks pretty good but there are all sorts of sins being hidden by roof tar and under coat. Pulling the engine, mechanically the car is in excellent condition with only one wheel bearing and the slave cylinder needing replacement (I'll be …
