Got this strange chiming noise coming from the intake manifold but it only appears after the engine has reached operating temperature. Its only present at idle or when I get off the throttle, once I give a little throttle the noise disappears. Adjusting the idle screw up or down does not make any difference. It does not affect the performance as far as I can tell. So I been thinking that it is vacuum related but have been struggeling with this now for a while without being able to figure ot out. Have done the egr delete, blocked off all parts of itand blocked off the line going to the throttle chamber. I've attached a video, the annoying sound is easy to hear from a…

The hose on the first fuel injector has cracked open. How exactly do I go about replacing it? Do I have to replace the whole injector or can I just put a new hose on? Is it possible to loosen up the fuel rail enough to lift it up to get the hose in place or will I have to pull the whole rail off to do it? If I can just replace the hose what type of hose exactly is needed and what size and diameter is it? Thank you!

Ok, My basic problem is my 75 280z will not start. A couple of months ago I had a similar problem, but fixed the issue by replacing the fuel pump. Through out the summer is was hot and not a problem starting the car. First crank and the engine started right up. The first cooler day, below 95 F and the car will not start. The fuel pressure is 40 psi when cranking and 34 psi when running, when car is running the vacuum is 18 mHg, I can get the car started by actuating the cold start injector. This pumps in a small amount of fuel and the car starts right up. I did go through all the measurements in the FI manual and discovered that there wa…

Hello all!! As some will remember, I was working on a drop in replacement ECU for our Z's & had to take a hiatus when my daughter was born. This week she started kindergarten (my how time flies when you have young ones underfoot). Last month I began un-mothballing the project and gearing up to finish. Apologies of course for the delay, but rest assured I haven't forgot about this. The status when I paused was this: 1 - The prototype board came up nicely and I was driving my car around using 100% stock L-Jet components (save for the HellFire ECU of course)....poorly tuned at best & no enrichment code was in place which caused some stumbling when I fl…

Having done what I hope is enough research, I have started down the road on my next off-beat modification. I decided to pull the trigger to go with the Patton Machine fuel injection kit on my 260Z. I still think I'm going a little lean at times at the top end with my current SU setup, and I hope this will remedy that situation. The cost appears to be less than sourcing a non-egr FI intake, AFM, MS setup, etc., and it seems to be nicely sorted out. I'll try to remember to take a lot of photos for posting. I hope to get the setup in March.

Hello all. I'm a newbie to the Z world-- just bought a very nice 76 280Z: http://devnulled.com/gallery/280Z-calitocolorado I've worked on / modified DSM's for around 5 years, and can do about anything on them without a problem except rebuild engines, trannies, etc by hand, but decided it was time for something new. Anyhow, on the drive home, I noticed it was running very rich. I had an emissions test done today, and they also confirmed that it was rich. Being that it's fuel injection, I'm not quite sure where to start. I would assume that perhaps the spark is not strong enough? I have some new Taylor wires and NGK plugs to throw on this weekend, so that's a star…

Hi Engine cranks but not start. This 3 days after collecting the car at the garage for wheel/tire change. Guy told me "engine is running on 5 cylinders". Did not notice, but remember now 8 monthes ago that another garage owner change the sparkplugs...may be one was brand new but dead. Car went fine even if driven less than 200 miles or so. Could a dead sparkplug flood the engine with fuel with time? A possibility to explain why not starting anymore??? Anyway, did the continuity test and here are the results: Except for the water temperature sensor, everything's seems OK. Anyone has a concern regarding these results? …

As stated before this car has not been on the road since 1996 and the throttle body is quite dirty and needs a soaking. Throttle shaft feels good and tight, operates smoothly. Throttle position sensor was immaculate. The plastic cover did it's sealing job perfectly on that part. The BCCD is another story along with the dashpot. Not in reuseable condition. Any suggestions? The BCCD seems to be a bit of controversy on the Forums. Can it be eliminated without major driveability issues? I have not found any replacement parts for either the dashpot or BCCD. The rest of the throttle body will be soaking for a few days. Will have to wait and see how it turns out. Than…

Well I decided to jump into the EFI game with both feet. Here is what changed this "old school" boy's mind. Weber look-a-like throttle bodies with built in injectors and TPS. Jenvey Heritage Throttle bodies is what they go by. I get the old look I can't seem to do without, with all the modern advantages of EFI. You may notice that there are only two, and this is a Z forum, but as most of you know there is 510 lady in my life that I'm currently enfatuated with. I can always buy another one if I ever come to my senses. These are 45mm with 350cc/hr injectors. Should do. https://www.onesixindustries.com/products

After I bought my 71 240z, had fuel overflow problems. Discovered there's no expansion tank and the fuel tank itself is from a 75-76 280z. Sourced a good 240z fuel tank and the correct plastic expansion tank. Fabricated the hoses, now trying to install the tank. Seems like the plastic filler neck is not quite lining up correctly with the fuel tank. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong. Can't locate the owner who did the swap. Wondering if fitting the 280z tank required a 280z filler neck. I see there are unique filler necks for 240/260 and 280. Is there a way to tell the difference, so I'll know if the filler neck is why the tank doesn't quite line up? Thanks for…

I'm on page 33 of the fuel injection bible, http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf No. 5 Power relay control unit injector test, it says to disconnect and reconnect the ignition lead wire several times while listening to each injector, so what do they consider the ignition lead wire? The pos side of the coil, center lead of the coil? I have a no start situation so working my way through the steps. Thanks
