I just got my car checked for emissions again so that I can renew my tags. We're on a two year cycle here so that gives plenty of time to mess around and get it screwed up . I had my car running greatly and went straight to the emissions check station without doing anything to help it pass. It failed, of course, so I spent the next few hours dinking around with the idle air bypass and my fuel pressure and failed three more times. So I went home and realized that I was using my MSA AFM that I had bought new nine+ years ago and that it had always run rich. I don't know why, it just does. No matter how far I back out the idle air bypass I couldn't get it to lean out. …

How does one do that? Is it possible to open it up and clean the filter on the bottom?

EFI relay pins 74 and 73 on my voltmeter i do see it has continuity but NO Beep Fuel Pump Control pins 94 and 95 continuity but no beep pins 91 and 95 continuity WITH BEEP Fuel Pump relay pins 90 and 91 continuity but no beep sorry if this is a dumb question so does it matter if there is no beep on continuity even tho i do see some sort of continuity on the voltmeter also it seems that im only getting 8 to 9 volts to the fuel pump Having a weird issue ware new oem fuel pump was working. any help is appreciated

For years now I’ve use this form to work on my 78. Unfortunately I’ve been sick for the last couple of years and now I have a new LIVER and want to get the 78 back on the road. Read everything I can find on the form about fuel pump systems I can fine. So here’s what I’ve done. 1. Drained old fuel. 2. Remove all old fuel lines with new ones. 3. New fuel pump. 4. Replace all fuel filters,in front of the fuel pump, in before the fuel rail. 5. Replaced fuel rail with new Pallnet rail. 6. Brand new injectors. 7. Car will start with starting fluid and run for five seconds. 8. No pressure at fuel rail. 9. Removed fuel lines from filter before fuel rail and fuel pump …

This is off the intake manifold on my spare engine. I am toying with the idea of trying to get it running on the existing parts to base line it before any decisions are made as to rebuilding the engine. So 1st order of business is to get the fuel injectors working. So far I am up to 3 working. here is a video of my setup to unstick some frozen injectors. The 3 remaining hard cases are now off the rail so I can get some PB blaster down the inlets hoses. The one under suction did NOT come unstuck. I will run them for several hours and see if anymore come unstuck. If not I will try the suction approach again, but will use my 2 stage vacuum pump rather than the little ha…

I would like to build an AFR meter using an Arduino board, and I would like to know if anyone has a detailed chart of voltage v AFR for a narrow-band oxygen sensor. Yes, I searched for a long while, but you guys usually have useful engine data. There are lots of chart images, but they all look like a curvey Z, so obviously, there isn't enough detail to pick out coordinates to plot in a spreadsheet. If I had a chart or table with enough detail, I could generate a formula or a lookup table. The former would be better. It's just too bad the LCD displays are monochrome, because colour would be easier to interpret while driving, I suppose I could add some …

I have a76 280Z refurbished AFM (from MSA) that has only been on the car for a couple of months. I'd like to put on my 77 280Z. It is a 7 pin 3 hole mount and looks exactly the same as my current AFM that's on the car. It has a tag with " FUEL INJECTION CORPORATION " and the #170348.

Does anyone have a number for the flow rate of the original OEM factory injectors? And how about a Bosch P/N for the original? Anyone have documentation for this kind of info? I'm sure it's out there, but I'm also sure someone else has already gone hunting and has that info at their fingertips.

Every so often someone will post a thread about not getting being able to get enough fuel up front to the engine, they have replaced the filters, the pump ... and so on. Here is an obstruction I have never run into before and is completely hidden, there is a rubber sleeve going through the subframe between the tank and the fuel pump on my 77, the fuel feed hose goes through that hard rubber sleeve. I have started scraping in that area so cut one side of the hose and pulled it through, for some reason the hard rubber sleeve has contracted and crushed the fuel hose taking a 9mm ID hose down to 4.5mm. I guess maybe age did it or gasoline vapors coming through the hos…

I just finished refreshing my intake manifold/injectors/ignition system and I'm attempting to get this thing running right. Having never before actually experienced a properly running Z, I feel like I'm going in circles trying to get it to where it is somewhat healthy. Here is where it sits as of this evening: It'll start after a few cranks, but usually dies a few times, then picks up a high idle (maybe 1500ish). The idle will come down to about 1200 RPM after it warms up (about 2/3 to 1/2 on the temp gauge). The conditions at that point (its fairly steady here): RPM: 1100-1200 Timing: ~15 BTDC on the crank pulley (this is where it seems to be happies…

I have an L28E with L-Jet EFI. I was thinking of building an AFR (air-fuel ratio) gauge using some common electronics stuff. It lights up LEDs from a signal generated by a narrow-band oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe. But, I question the legitimacy and accuracy of the gauge. How does oxygen in the exhaust tell you how much air and fuel is going into the cylinders? There is no sensor that will do that, and it would go into the intake manifold, not the exhaust pipe. The best you can do is to use a modern engine, with a programmable controller to measure the air (via the AFM) and calculate the amount of fuel inject from the fuel pressure and the injection …

Is there such a thing as a an ignition sensor/rev counter with a bluetooth output, so you can watch the Revs on a phone or computer? Or how bout just a coil or spark sensor with bluetooth? Some racing loggers can display the revs if you have OBD (which a Zed doesn't have) or a bluetooth SPP adapter.
