the two leads that go from the distributor to an HEI ignition module or the factory ignition box would be a good place to cut into and add a kill switch of some kind, such as a mechanical switch or a remotely-controlled relay. I have a remote relay, and it has a 10A current rating. I think the relay would work well as theft-prevention, because it doesn't require heavy wiring, like the fuel pump does, and you can easily hide the thin wires in the wire bundle. I also think that there probably isn't much current in those two sensor wires, since they only control the ignition module instead of the current going to or from the module or coil. I just wanted to c…

So just for SAG's I decided to install the "pot" everyone's talking about. I ordered one thru zcardepot for 4 bucks. Wired it up. Simple, took maybe 20 minutes. Half of that was setting up soldering iron, etc. Installed it in the CTS harness, again, simple. Started it up and almost immediately it started to stumble. I figured I had set it wrong and turned the knob on the pot the opposite way. It got worse. Had to throttle it to keep it running. I turned the knob back and forth a couple of times with the same results. I disconnected it from the CTS harness, reconnected the original harness, started it and it ran fine. The reason I installed it, outside of curiosity, was to…

The 280 fuel injection relay schematic shows a resistor connected to relay pin 86b. This pin connects to the Air Flow meter fuel pump switch and the ECU pin 20. Does anyone know the value of this resistor? I purchased fairly complete 280Z fuel injection system primarily for the manifold and throttle body and would like to play with it, but am missing the relay. I'm planing to build a replacement relay as I do not want to spend the $$ for one. I am planning to go to a Megasquirt EFI in the future so buying a new stock relay would be waste of money.

I went to start up my 1976 280z and it didnt fire up, so i checked the spark and it was fine. So i took off the cover of the air flow sensor to check the fuel pump and i heard the relay click but not the fuel pump. So i took the pump out and it works then checked the power to it and had 11.8 or 11.3 volts or something. I plain to re hook up the pump to the connectors to see if it works now, and there was just something in it that i shook lose when i took it out. Is there anything else i should check or another shut off for the pump. -Thank You

Hey everyone! I'm starting a new thread since my "help me!" thread got too long and isn't getting any attention now. Long story short, I'm not getting pulses to my injectors. I've been working on this problem for 2 weeks and I can't seem to get it. The car ran before I tore it down to replace oil control rings 4 months ago, so it's not likely a component failed. I'm thinking I put something together wrong. If I disconnect the ECU connector and ground each injector's pins, they audibly fire. If I manually fire them a few times the car will start afterwards for a few seconds from the leftover fuel, so I know it's not a fuel pump or clogged injector issue. The car …

I'm looking to read, modify, and then reburn a flash ROM for a non-Z application. It's car related, but just not a Z. I apologize for asking this here, but you guys are the best. Anyone have a programmer compatible with an AMD part number AM29F400BB? It's a 32 Meg part and has 44 pins. It's a surface mount part, but I've got a 44 pin SMT to through hole adapter socket that would fit into a programmer that accepts 44 pin parts. Anyone got any ideas?

I just saw this on instagram. Not sure where the photo was taken but it's an L series head with FI and a plate on the head that said "Mikuni" and one on the throttle body that says "fuel injection prototype." I've never heard of this. Anyone know what's up?

While replacing my throttle linkage boot today, I decided to remove the entire linkage and clean it up a bit. After wire-wheeling the pieces, I noticed a little rubber plug among the parts but don't know where it came from. Where does this go?

Does anyone know if they sell pigtail connectors for all the efi system? My AFM, TTS, Coolant temp, FIDLE all have connectors that are broken in some way. they still work, but can fall off. I looked around, but could not find any new.

Hi I have an 83 280zx turbo and it has sat for about ten years. Before it had been put up it had a problem that couldn't be identified by the mechanics I took it to. It chugs real bad if you stomp it and the turbo never seems to spool up. So trying to get it back on the road I decided to do a complete once over from fuel tank to engine. When I pulled the sending unit out it had a wire loose and the filter had completely rotted off I took a bunch of pictures if they are needed. I am unable to find a new one under 400 dollars so I figured this one might be able to be rebuilt. Thanks for any help Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hi classic-z-car-community,I have some trouble with my 280z engine - it is starting very hard - needs a lot attempts and then runs very weak - after getting warm the engine run is getting better, but takes gas very bad - nearly stopping when cold - and misfiring often ...With the following link you could experience the behavior:https://youtu.be/79MqGnp45u4... the engine run half a hour before, so was not too cold. without this it would need 8-10 start attempts until coming to live ...What did I try hitherto:1. as the fuel pump that was mounted (also not original) whas very loud - I ordered an aftermarket pump from zcardepot.com (https://zcardepot.com/electric-fuel-...80z-…

Saw this article about winter grade gas coming two weeks early. Hot weather + winter grade could = hot start/heat soak. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-01/valero-seeks-texas-help-to-ship-more-gasoline-after-harvey
