So I have three FI ECU's. All of them are A11-600-000 but different lots. How do I know if they are the same or if they are for different model (year) 280's? Pics of the two that are out of the car at the moment. Logic board says A12-001 003 6cyl This one is from Lot 6825 This one is C12-001 004 N This one is from Lot 7Z07 Does anyone have experience modding these boards or even identifying them? Thanks for any help! Sent from my iPizzle ringy dingy device....

Here's what I've got. 77 280z, all stock. Was running great until one of the hoses on the fuel rail started leaking fuel. I replaced the bad hose, but have never been able to get the idle back to where it should be. I've checked and checked for leaks. Nothing I can see. But if I pinch the big hose coming off the top of the valve cover, the engine idles perfect. Not sure where to start my troubleshooting. Any comments would be appreciated.

There is a lot of info available on this subject. Almost too much info. Has made it difficult for me to choose one over the next. Narrowed it down to 2. The FJ707 (FJ3?), or the FJ707T. Can't find any info describing the difference between these 2 injectors. What is the difference between the 2? What does the "T" stand for? I installed these (FJ707) 3 years ago. Was going to send mine off to have rebuilt after installing these, why I bought the cheaper ones, but of course my originals are still sitting in the garage. Now I think one of the replacement injectors (a second one) is going bad (intermittent electrical issue). When it doesn't work I can tap on it to make it…

I haven't been able to really define what it is about adjusting the spring of the AFM that bothers me. But I think I've narrowed to down to one thing - preload. Preload affects when the vane starts to move due to air flow and should be an exact number, matched to the idle air bypass in the AFM and the throttle blade idle air bypass. Any adjustment of the AFM spring wheel will affect that three way relationship. That's probably why the factory glues the wheel down when they've adjusted it. But preload does not affect spring rate so once the vane starts moving the change in injector time versus vane position goes to the original design goals. If you tighten the sp…

It's been awhile since I've done anything with the Z due to some bad stuff going on with a family member, but to refresh, I have a 75 280, 79 ZX dizzy with E12-80 module vacuum advance disconnected, Crane coil no ballast, AFM calibrated per Atlantic Z, fuel pressure 36-38 at idle w/o vacuum 32 with vacuum, all new fuel lines and clamps, timing at 15°, new CSV, new CSV, thermotine checked out OK so did the TPS(by the Bible). It starts and runs well, but stumbles at about 5800(timing I'm thinking), problem is it runs rich as hell gets about 10mpg(50 miles on 1/3 tank), plugs are sooty black and black soot at the exhaust. I've adjusted the AFM as much as 12 teeth to lean si…

I'm planning on adding a Crane Hi-6S Inductive ignition box to my 1976 Datsun 280z. It has the twin pickup coil Federal Model dizzy. I've chosen the Crane inductive box for specific reasons and have been well pleased with the HI-6 CD version on other cars. Question is about install. Where specifically does the ECU get the injector Timing signal from? Is it from the negative terminal on the coil or from the Magnetic trigger in the dizzy? Has any one done an install of the Crane H-6S ( Multi-Spark inductive ignition ) on an FI 280Z and have any installation tips? TIA.

Does the factory ECU or Transistorized Ignition box on a 1976 280Z have a built in Rev Limiter?

So my #4 injector is leaking into the engine of my 77 280. Yesterday I removed all the plugs just to look at them and discovered #4 spark plug wet with fuel. Smelled only of fuel, not oil. I have a replacement injector on its way. Now I'm trying to figure a way to fire the injectors with the whole rail removed from the intake. Want to see spray pattern. In theory I should be able to "energize" the injectors by manipulating the AFM flap and the injectors should spray fuel correct? Or is that only through the start circuit? In other words what would be the best way to energize the injectors to spray for me so I can observe flow.

I had never seen a JDM L20 ecu before and was surprised to see this little adjustment screw on the side of it. I asked my wife what the kanji meant and she translated it to say "be careful with idle adjustment" I think something got lost in translation there somewhere because you can adjust the idle in the engine compartment. Perhaps its idle mixture? Instead of being on the afm they moved it to the ecu?

I have a 1977 280z with running issues. What's wrong is that when I start the car, it cranks over fine and will start fine but after the initial start it will immediately bog down and either die or run on like 3-4 cylinders  It helps tons when I push the AFM in about 25% of the way, but If I let it go on its own the car sputters and bogs down again or dies. With the AFM pushed on full (the top cover is off) I can slowly push the car up to a fairly high rpm, 5000 or so, but I can't seem to do quick revs or the car will backfire even with it in all the way. Here are some of the things I've replaced: -New cap and plug wires (with relatively new plugs; they're NGK, d…

Talked about in the past I know but, does anyone know if there are replacement parts for the BCDD? I believe my BCDD has a vacuum leak and am thinking about removing and blocking it off. But I'm not sure what to do about the solenoid. Here's the reason. When I unplug it the idle changes (lowers) and is not as smooth. And when I rev the engine the idle is slow to return to 800. This is while the solenoid is unplugged. My other concern is emissions. It is hard to pass emissions testing as it is in California. What will it do if its removed? I'm not sure. I don't want to purchase a used one because it could have the same problems mine has and if it doesn't when will it? Th…

My apologies if this is a duplicate, the system seems to have just swallowed my carefully crafted posting (telling me I wasn't logged in). Here goes again. I just bought a 1976 280Z as a project car. The body is in good shape but its been partially dismantled. The previous owner took it apart to move some performance parts to his new Z. So it came with the EFI intake/throttle off the car (along with a bag of misc stuff). Exhaust is missing (I have MOTORSPORT TBC Coated 6-1 Header, and MSA premium exhause on order from the Z store). Bumpers are off. Interior taken apart. Drum brakes need work (in-progress - Front disks/calipers look great though). Previous owner …
