Im buying a 240z that is getting rust in the fuel from rust that is in the fuel lines, the old tank has been replaced and now the rust that got built up in the lines is working itself out. How big of an issue is this going to be?

I've got my 77 EFI fuel pump torn apart and when I put it back together, I want to use new O-rings to seal the rotor section. Anyone know the sizes that are used there? Are they available as a replacement part? I looked through the parts docs and I couldn't find an exploded view of the fuel pump. I'm thinking they aren't available separate? I measured the old ones that came off, but they're deformed from over thirty years of service. They are no longer round, nor are they circular in cross section. By this time, they are oval in cross section, and are shaped like the groove they came out of. However... Doing the best I could, I get 33mm ID and a 2mm cross section? I know …

Been gone for awhile and took the Z out the other day just for grins in the balmy 45° weather. Couple of issues, 1. it still runs very rich, lots of black soot from the exhaust and on the plugs. 2. after driving for awhile 10-20 minutes, shut her down and went to the store, came back out and started her up and the idle went to 1800 and very slowly dropped back down to normal. Things I've done in the past 6 months; adjusted the AFM to the lean side(ccw) 8 notches, new AAM, Cold start injector, injectors replaced about 500 miles ago, new FPR, new fuel lines, new filter. Probably some other stuff that I can't remember. Fuel pressure is right on. The rich running has been an…

I have a fuel injected 78 280z with a performance cam. It starts and runs great, and accelerates and cruises smoothly while cold. But after it warms up a bit the throttle is jerky. When making very tiny changes to the gas peddle (just to maintain speed), the throttle jerks on and off. Its great while accelerating or decelerating but just doesn't maintain a steady cruising speed without jerking in and out. This is very obvious at 50 mph or less but doesn't seem as pronounced at highway speeds. Maybe a Throttle Position Sensor? Air Flow Meter? Vacuum Leak?

Does anyone make an improved version of the throttle linkage between the firewall and the intake manifold? Here's the part that I'm talking about: I'm chasing sticky, non positive throttle action and have found that my throttle linkage is sloppy and worn at the plastic pivot up by the firewall: I know I could clean and lube it to fix the sticky part, but that won't do anything to fix the sloppy part. Are there aftermarket options out there or am I looking at a custom repair?

Hello fellow Z owners! After driving my Z the past few weeks, I had noticed the vehicle had a "Hard Start or Stutter" after it had warmed up and was restarted. I put 91 fuel and injection cleaner in the tank for a week. No change... I had also noticed an excessive fuel smell while driving my Z and especially after filing her gas tank. Enough was enough I had a massive headache each time I had taken the Z out for a drive. I decided to check my Air Flow Meter (AFM) was operating just fine, Also checked my Cold Start Valve/Injector that was fine. Lastly I decided to tear the Fuel Injectors out (Stock) and looked at all the tips and hoses. Hoses were fine...The tips were crac…

HI All, I haven't been here in a long time but I have been gradually working on my 76 280z. Lots of new parts including all new injectors (this car came to me in pieces and with some missing pieces, including the entire exhaust system). Anyway, it runs but runs rough when cold, not bad when warm but still seems like it should be smoother. I was running through some of the resistance checks in the EFI manual. I had suspected the air/water temp sensors because it is running pretty well when warmed up but those checked out OK, at least the cold measurments did. Anyway, I was surprised to find problems when checking the AFM as it looks like the guts are new. Here is wh…

'77 to '78 hose changes from valve cover to AAR. It keeps the AAR cleaner.

Hey All, My father and I have brought back to its former glory a 62k, prior one owner, 280Z 5 speed. We did some concours/close to concours bodywork/paintwork and are working on the finishing touches. One of those finishing touches is getting it running real nice. Here is some background: -Sat for 20 years or so (prior owner passed away) -Prior owner's brother this year drained the old fuel, put on new fuel filter, new fuel pump (not sure what brand), and put on a fuel pressure gauge -Tank has at least 4+ gallons of good fuel in it right now. So here is what happens: When we first start the car, it runs real sweet! Nice and smooth, revs up all the way real easy, etc.…
