Can a copper or other type of tubing be slipped inside the original line to repair the rusted pickup tube. I have a 78 280 that has no fuel pressure 1/2 tank or less. It has pressure, just no fuel. Has anyone ever tried this before? Thanks

I was replacing some wonky fuel system parts while I was trying to find out why my NOS fuel pump is howling like it's got a belly-ache. I decided to replace the Fuel Damper. Having already flushed the tank, I installed a filter between the fuel tank and the pump (as I had read in the hundreds of earlier posts) as well as the Pressure Regulator -but alas the pump is groaning like its had too many Jalapenos! Finding a Fuel Damper was not as easy as I thought, so I remembered that these were Bosch L-Jetronic systems and that there were many cars that used L-Jetronic. What I found was a Mercedes part (W0133-1615150) here: http://www.importeccatalog.com/item.wws?mfr=BOSCH&a…

Could Seafoam maybe break something loose and mess up my Fuel Pressure Regulator? When I unhook vacuum to FPR my car runs like it did before Seafoam (better).

A while ago, there was a"spirited" discussion as to "hot start issues" related to fuel delivery. My symptoms were that the car was hard to start when parked for 20-30 minutes.Cold -no issues, also when hot-no issues when parked for 5-10 minutes or longer than an hour. Last night(2000 hrs) i charged the system and at 0700 today,i still had 30+ psi of fuel pressure. The final test was today during some "errand running" with a ambient air temp of 106.5 degrees,190 degrees running temp and 220 degrees at re-start. No more starting issues PERIOD.In fact the car starts better at all temps and runs smoother. All i did was clean & flow all the injectors(CSI included)and installe…

I was in the salvage yard the other day and found an in-line Schrader valve on the fuel lines of an Isuzu Rodeo. I've looked around on the internet for something similar but could never find anything. The Schrader valve is common on today's fuel injected cars, as a port for a fuel pressure gauge connection, but the old Z cars don't come with them. All of the newer cars I looked at have them installed on the fuel rail so not easy to transplant. I haven't installed it yet but it fits 5/16" hose like the stock 280Z lines so should be easy to splice in. It will be convenient for fuel pressure checks or adjusting, and for relieving pressure if I need to remove any fuel sy…

When I push in the clutch at Stop Signs or Red Lights or any other time I'm about to stop my '77 stays between 2,000 & 2,500 RPM for about 5 seconds then falls down to normal idle. Any advice as to what it could be? Opened Throttle Switch, black box on manifold, looked like new. Air sprayed the dust and cleaned the plug-in with electrical cleaner then Dielectic grease. Still does it. So I think extra fuel is burning off but I don't know squat. Help.

Is there an easier way than wrapping a towel around fuel filter line? Maybe some kind of valve somewhere?

Hello everyone. I have a 1975 280z and I can't keep it running. I will describe the problem. I changed the key part of ignition works fine then the fuel pump wasn't working. Got that working also have good fuel pressure. The only way I can get it to run is to pour gas into the intake by the airflow. It runs great until it uses that fuel that I pour in. Does this mean that my injectors are all cloggeg? Or does it mean my relay isnt working. I can feel it click when I turn the key and the fuel pump works so I figure its not the relay. I also know the gas is making it to the fuel rail because I can losen a hose clamp and gas leaks out right before the injectors. Is there som…

Hello everyone. 1st post so I hope it's done right. I bought a '77 in pretty good shape. Hadn't been driven in awhile but would crank and run. Drained the tank, cleaned out cone shaped filter in fuel line from tank. Seemed to rev up better but when I took it for a drive fell flat after 3,000 rpm. Put fuel gauge in between filter and fuel rail and it shows 25psi at idle but when I give it gas it goes down to 20psi. Should I put new fuel pump on? Found Bosch at Advanced for $240.00 after 20% off $300.00. Does the fuel dampner/regulator ever get out of adjustment? Could it be that? Still holding at 22psi after not being cranked for 12 hours. Also have been cleanin…

I have a 5/77 280. What is the difference between the black or green base on the cold start valve? I know the 75-77 models use the same cold start valves and the 78-83 use a different one. which one is which? I am putting my z's f.i. system back on now (restoring) and for some reason I can't remember which on is correct. I have both green and black and don't remember which one was on my intake. I have everything else bagged and tagged except this! Your help is appreciated. Bob

Hey all I hate to not get a chance to introduce myself before jumping in and asking for help, but long story short I'm a new proud owner of a 77 280z with an f54 p79 motor. I'll do what I can to give a brief overview. (I'll do a full detailed intro later on) So I recently bought a 1977 280z with a 83zx f54block p79head motor, 83 zx5speed with turbo clutch/flywheel. (I finally got a Z!!! I've waited many years for this ) Its actually this car http://www.zcar.com/cars_sale_1970-83_240z_260z_280z_280zx/1977_280z_nice_clean_car_lots_mods._899197.0.html My original problem was the fuel pump was not shutting off when I turned off the car and took the keys out of the ignit…
