I just spent a ton of money rebuilding my engine and now I find out that I have a dead fuel injector on my #3 cylinder. I can't afford to have the guy at the shop do the work, so I am going to do it myself. Are there any special tricks to removing the fuel rail? What are some of the typical problems associated with this job? I have a moderate amount of mechanical know-how, but I'm no expert. I heard someone say that it is easy to buckle the rings as they are installed. Is this true? What should I do to avoid any problems. And should I replace all the injectors at the same time? Again, money is an issue, but I need to car to run. Thanks for your help . . .

Alright well i have a 76 280z pretty much bone stock and i cant get the damn thing to run right. At first i thought it was ignition related, so i have a new dist. cap, rotor, coil, wires, and plugs. Gapped the plugs properly and tested my spark. im gettin great spark at each plug. then i figured it may be injector related. so I tested to make sure i was gettin a pulse at each injector. then i used the classic stethescope to hear if they were firing and they all were. The engine sounds like is not running on all cylinders, or the the timing is way off. Ive adjusted the timing and even adjusted the valves for the hell of it. can not figure out wats going on. Ive mess…

I have replaced the injectors (new from Napa) as well as the injector relay (new from napa) that is located on the passenger side by the battery. I checked my wires with a noid light and I am not getting any juice to the injectors ( 3 and 6). I also replaced the ECU (eBay used). I am trying to track down the issue so I checked the injector wires as far as I can trace them into the harness and they are dead the whole way. I have also replaced the Thermotime and the temp sensor( new from Napa). Which made the car run really well except the 2 dead cylinders. I really appreciate your input and hope you can help me get my beloved Z back on the road. She was my first car when I…

I've got a 1976 280Z with stock fuel injection. The FI was not on the car when I bought it, and I had a shop in Edmonton, Alberta restore the car to FI using parts from a donor car. They did an incomplete job. Recently, I've been having trouble with the thermostat opening way too late. I noticed that the lines that run from the cooling water through the intake manifold (or a piece attached to it, just below the secondary air regulator), were not connected. I got a look at a 280ZX and saw how they were meant to be hooked up, and restored the connections to my 280Z. My thermostat now opens smoothly, but there's another problem. The car now seems to be burning antifreeze unt…

Is there anyway to check a fpr off the car? I was thinking about drawing a vacuum with a vacuum pump and checking to see if there is any leak down over a period of time. I would think that the fpr should hold the vacuum. If it didn't would that indicate a leaking fpr? Thanks

Just finished adjusting the valves car was running perfect til she got completely warmed up. Got that rough idle and I figured it was the connector on W/T switch - son as I touched it turned to s--t. No where to get a new connector til Monday - wonder it I can just cut the end off and spice the wires together - don't need the warm up injector right now and with the open circut it is always on. Thoughts.

I've been steadly working on a 77 280z that I purchased over the winter. Just replaced the injectors and she is running quite well. I went ahead and installed a inline fuel pressure gauge and am only getting 26 psi. When I shut it off she holds pressure for a few hours but eventually drops off to zero, also, no problem starting up after its sits with zero pressure. I installed a Fram G3 filter before the pump and it is clean. I was going to clean the filter in the fuel pump but it's not OEM. It looks like the one that Black Dragon sells. Any suggestions as to what else could cause low FP. Thanks

Hi all, Can the Idle mixture be adjusted on the 280Z that does NOT have an oxygen sensor? On my car it says to adjust the idle mixture so that idle CO is 1% or lower. Does anyone know the procedure for doing this? Thanks!

I have not been able to find anything on the elec fuel pump in my 72. From reading they are supposed to be on the 73 and later models. The PO had it wired directly to the fuse box and we all know how that turns out. I replaced the melted fuse box with an MSA unit and want to wire in the fuel pump as well. Where does the hot wire go and is it supposed to run constantly when key is on?

Does anyone know were I can find a fuel damper for a 75 280z? I've tried NAPA, Autozone, OReilly's, and even ebay but no luck. Also I'm putting in new fuel injectors but I can't find gaskets. I can get the seals but no one has the gaskets. New mounting brackets don't come with gaskets, are they designed to be used with out gaskets?

I'm in the process of installing some injectors I purchased on-line. The injectors came off of a 280z and were relatively new. They do not have the fuel line attached as do some I've seen, it was installed by the PO. I have read the FSM and it states that you do not need a clamp on the hose end where the injector is installed just on the end that attaches to the fuel rail. When I received the injectors and fuel rail there were no clamps on the fuel injector ends. I would think that I need a clamp. Your help would be greatly appreciated. PS The injectors have a barbed end.

I have a 1981 280ZX Turbo. When I bought the car the PO had clamped the return fuel line and said the car "screamed" aka ran very well. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and also had to replace rack, ball joints, & bushings under the front end. When I started the car, it missed and I could'nt give it much gas. I have corrected the miss and the car starts but idles a little rough. I can't get her to rev very well and this is compounded if put under load (like driving in gear). My fuel pump makes a heck of a racket and I get lurching and backfiring if I try to push the throttle past about 1/4. Do fuel pumps make more noise as they weaken? Or do I have some problem …
