I recently just replace my Cali 280z's exhuast(stupid catylitic converter) with a 240z exhaust and might i ad it fit perfectly however I put on the whole entire fuel injection system, but the heat shield doesnt fit in because the exhaust manifold is slightly different. It fits perfectly without the heat shield. Since i no longer have a cat could i just get rid of the shield or should i fabricate it to fit properly. Also i cant get the damn thing running again. It smells like there might be water in the gas so i added some of the HEET water removal stuff but still nuthin. It ran alright on this gas before, but ill drain it and try again, if this doesnt work what should…

i have 75 280Z that i plan on keeping the stock motor in. I plan to use the MSA stroker kit and run some boost on it also, and wanted to know what others have used fuel management on the non carburated motors. I believe the 75 is fuel injected (correct if i am wrong), but not electronically controlled. I am more used to fuel systems on newer cars and this is the first time I have modified a car made before 1994. any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure about other Z's but I think they're kinda like mine but....You know all that rubber tubing for the fuel rail?? Well, I've had to change those tubes several times and it's definitely not easy and not fun. Anyways, I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about getting custom fuel rails made so I don't have to deal with those damn rubber tubes. That way I can also get a performance upgrade at the same time. I thought about exchanging the rubber tubing with steel braided fuel lines..if they have them...but I think that would be a pain to cut. Well, I just want some thoughts because sooner or later, when I have the money, I want to do something about my fuel r…

Last night I changed out the fuel pump on my '75 280z. I pulled off the hose from the fuel filter to make sure it was pumping fuel. Yep, it works. Now, I re-connected everything and tried to start the car. It caught a few times... but, it died immediately. After a few shots at this and many minutes of cranking.. I gave up. However, I noticed that a few of my fuel hoses were bulging and one of them was even split. It was shooting a fine mist of fuel!!! Anyway, there's something obviously wrong here. The system is plugged and I don't know if this is a sign of bad injectors or not. I took all of the injectors out of the car and I will be replacing them. So, my questio…

Just wondering as to what kind of filters (If any) everyone might be adding in prior to the electric fuel pump on the 75-78 model years. I suppose you could probably do the same thing on the early 240/260 models as well. I ran across an AC Delco unit that will make it quite easy to filter the fuel prior to the fuel pump, as well as changing the filter at regular intervals. webdawg1

I was just wondering if a 1990 240SX KA24E Throttle Body will work on a 1978 280z and if it does what kinds of things will I have to do. I know I have to grind down the manifold and get a spacer but what other things will I have to do. Thanks

I was checking the circuit for the coolant sensor on my 78 280Z, and it didn't check out right: One connector from the sensor goes to the ECU, pin 13, like it should. The other one goes to ground. The circuit diagram shows the second wire going to ground, but when I plug in the coolant sensor with the engine running, the engine stalls, and then won't start again. I checked the circuits according to the EFI 'bible', and the coolant sensor seemed to check out fine. But still the engine won't run with the sensor plugged in So I have the coolant sensor unplugged, and the engine runs extra rich (about 10 MPG). Any thoughts on what might be happening? I put in a new senso…

My ignition coil is leaking fluid/oil out of the center of the ignition coil where the distributor cap hooks up to. Would this leakage cause the car to have a rough idle . Thanks I probably should have posted this in electrical, but I am a nerd .

My engine started running so crappy since I put on the new fuel rail. I thought it was because I 'cleaned' the AFM, and the resistance strip is damaged. I just got a used AFM off eBay, and it didn't help, so I started reading everything. I read that if the timing is off, it'll run rich. So I got a timing light and put it on there. Problem was I didn't see any marks. On U.S. engines the TDC mark is kind of deep so it's really easy to see it. When I put the light on MY car, I didn't see any marks within the timing pointers(the one bolted on the timing chain cover.) So I pulled the coil wire and cranked the engine in little bits to find the mark. After about 15 minute…
