OK here is the back story.... I drove the car for a full summer about 4 years ago. Since then the car has sat with about a 1/4 tank of gas. Last summer i started to tinker with it again. The car which is a 76 280Z 2+2 would run when still but when in motion after a few miles or alittle longer would just out of no where start to spit a sputter and die. If I would let the car sit for alittle bit it would start back up again and go another 5-10 miles and do it again. Plugs and cap and rotor have been changed along with the coil. The car sat again until this spring. Now I will get this thing running good again. Last year I did fill up the tank with gas but after it sat again …

I'm pretty sure my resistance track on my airflow meter (78 280Z) is totally worn out, or just really worn. The resistance with the flap closed isn't (near-zero) like the book says, and it doesn't go up smoothly with movement of the flap. I could order a used one, but then I'd have two, so why not have a go at fixing the resistance trip? I think I'd probably need to graft one from another source, like a giant potentiometer or another similar AFM. Or is there a source of material used to make resistance strips? thx

Hey fellow FI peeps just wondering if anyone knew of a performance AFM upgrade for the 280. I took my 280 to get its brakes checked and my mechanic saw my pressure regulator and said that i should also get a performance AFM unit cuz it will really boost the power on these things... he used to own one so i guess he knows. Im gonna ask him more in depth about it next time i go in but i was just wondering if any of you guys knew of one thanks.

What do you guys think of this setup for a turbo'd engine......... 1 - Purchase R31 Skyline Fuel Tank and Fuel Pump Cradle & Ford Mustang Internal Fuel pump (good for about 500hp) 2 - Remove Cradle from R31 fuel tank and mounting bracket from top of fuel tank 3 - Remove the fuel level Sender unit from R31 Fuel Pump Cradle (as it gets in the way - use the Datsun factory original fuel level sender unit) 4 - Get some 3"- 4" OD exhaust tubing off-cut and attach this to the fuel pump cradle (this is the swirl pot) making sure you have a gap at the top and bottom when mounted into the Datsun fuel tank 5 - Attach the "Low fuel level" sender unit from the R31 fuel pump cradl…

I appologize in advance for posting this here, but this is time sensitive and I don't know if an entry in the classified section would show up on the front page or not. I'm looking for someone in the So. Cal. area who has a '77 - '78 gas tank for sale ASAP! The tank is for a good friend of mine here in Ventura, Ca. that has no access to the internet and needs a tank now. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi guys! Im having trouble with my Z at the moment. A couple of problems at once but managable and one problem Im not quite sure how to fix other then some extensive cleaning of the fuel system or ignition system. The Problem: :pirate: Starts up fine like it always has but recently it sputters like its running on 3 cylinders and is blowing black smoke from the excess gas not being ignighted like it should be. The car lacks power BIG TIME and is not safely drivable at the time. The other problems Im fixing with it are the old heater hose from the fire wall to the back engine S shaped hose went out and started leaking anti freeze while I was driving and made the ca…

Where does the vacuum line from the BCDD go to? I think it's the thermal vacuum valve, but I lost my notes on that and I can't find a picture of the BCDD circuit. thx

If you want to remove the cold start injector from the F/I setup, would you remove the air regulator and thermotime switch as well? Also, if you were to do this what do you do with the electical connectors so that it doesnt mess with the computers mixture readings and what not. What is the standard precedure for doing all this. I'm getting a cutom fuel rail and i want to elimate the cold start Injector because i think its giving me rich conditions, plus i live in So. Cal. Thanks for your help Steve

.....with my '76 280Z? I've read where some have been successful, but didn't list the type of tank used. I've run out of ideas on finding a useable replacement OEM tank for it. Thanks in advance, Spdloader

I've seen several beautiful Z fuel injected motors that are super clean and simple (like my brain!). Many of the hoses and smog paraphanalia are removed. Does anyone have advice as to what is extranious and can safely be removed? Will motor run better? Great site. Cheers to all. David
