Good Day, Own a 1976 280z fuel injection and have starting issues. I replaced the fuel pump and installed a new fuel filter. I have 1/4 tank of gas with new fuel. I pulled the wire off the starter to see if the fuel pump is running and it is when turning the ignition key. However, I am hearing a clicking sound coming from the fuse box area which is puzzling. Also, I pulled off the short fuel line coming off the top of the fuel filter and put the end into a glass jar to see if fuel is coming out. When turning the key, no fuel is coming out. All Fuses are good and all hoses are checked for air leaks and nothing visible. Checked and cleaned ground wires, even the fusible li…

OK, so I am wrapping up getting the 76z ready for sale. Obviously taking my time to part ways. I am installing my fuel injector / railing and one of the plastic injector holders broke. I am pretty sure that all of the parts including the injectors were original. I am having trouble locating the proper part to purchase. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Getting ready to soak 2 of my fuel injectors that appear to be clogged. I was planning on soaking them with seafoam. I just read a post that said never to soak them in any kind of cleaner because the coil I’ll get damaged. Thoughts/Comments.

First post here but have been a spectator for about 4 months trying to absorb as much information as possible. I recently obtained a 1975 Datsun 280Z from my neighbor who purchased the car new as an anniversary present for his wife. He owned the local Datsun dealership at the time so all maintenance was done by his dealership. She drove the car until it had about 106,000 miles at which time she got a new car with an automatic transmission (this was a 4 speed car). The car has had a pampered life. She always garaged it and took good care of it. He put a non op with the DMV, pulled the plugs and oiled the cylinders, drained all of the fuel out of the tank and parked it unde…

This 78 280z is the car I referred to with my EGR question earlier today. The fuel pump had been removed but a new Nissan pump was in the car. I checked it's part number and it is the correct one for this car. That's a score because Nissan isn't giving them away! The new pump does not have a pumping direction marked on it. I suppose I could run some water through it to determine in what direction it pumped but I'd rather not do that to a new pump. One end of it is flat and has no hose connections. The other end has an extended nipple for a hose. On top of the canister, near the flat end is the other hose nipple. The electrical connections are both marked so I'm g…

Hi guys! What is the size of the hose from the fuel tank to the fuel pump on a 1977 280z? The fuel line got a small tear and I decided to replace it. I read on the forum that this line is a 12mm line rather than the normal 5/16, but the 12mm line doesn’t fit. The hose is somewhat snug on the fuel pump, but is very loose on the gas tank outlet and I can’t fit the hose through the cutout in the bulkhead. Thoughts?

I recently had the fuel tank refurbished on my 1975 280Z (fuel injection). I’m also going to put on a new OEM fuel pump. It has had both of them off for about six months, so I’m wondering when I put the gas tank and fuel pump on do I need to bleed any lines or just let the fuel pump do its work. I have no experience with fuel injection. Thanks E

A couple of the fuel injectors on my "78 280Z (originals) are beginning to foul up so I've decided to change all six once I pull the fuel rail. Searching I've found very different offers form ZCar Depot ($79 each + $0.60 per O ring), MSA ($63 each, all included) and Zcar Source ($149 each). They all state "NEW, not refurbished. The MSA injectors have a black body, maybe plastic? The Zcar Depot and Zcar Source injectors seem to have a silver metal body (but I'm just judging by the pictures).I can't find any posts with straight recommendations as to which fuel injector set to buy and why so I need help, please. Thanks in advance.

I'm n the process of converting my 260z (stock motor) from dual carbs to EFI ITB. Started to collect the various parts and doing my homework. I have a good understanding on the conversion but still not clear on how the vacuum lines should be set up. The ITB intake manifold I have has a single vacuum nipple which is used for the brake booster. When I convert this to EFI: Can I leverage the same vacuum line and add a T? Or is it better to tap into all the intakes and hook this up to a vacuum manifold? I will have to drill holes and tap into this if I take this route. I thinking I will need the vacuum to connect to the following: Brake b…

Hey guys! So I bought a 1977 280z that has been sitting for some 30 years. Earlier this year I redid the engine and all of its components, and a new fuel system front to back . Upon start up it ran, but wouldn't rev past 1200rpm without holding the throttle down. Checked the AFM and noticed the flap was bobbling and barely moving. When I manually held it open The car ran beautifully and could rev quick and easy. So it got me thinking why the flap wasn't opening. Of course vacuum, and I remembered I am an idiot and never plugged the ports I left open after deleting the EGR/BPT valves (I got long tube headers). Anyways, I have searched everywhere, but no one seem…

New to me ‘75 280z. It has less than 60k miles. It was driven infrequently for the last 15-20 years. Drained the full tank and the gas at the bottom was very old and dark. Car starts fine when it’s cold. Runs well. Idle is the tiniest bit rough but holds. The issue is hot start. It will stutter on cranking and take longer to start. Then it barely runs and sounds like it’s running on less than 6 cylinders. I have to hold down the gas pedal and it will miss and buck for a few seconds. Then it clears up and runs ok. I can drive it normally and it will idle. It has new air and fuel filters, plugs, wires, points and distributor cap. I’m going to throw in a can of…
