Does anyone know the history of these Center Console Arm Rests? Are they after market items? Still available? I am relocating the pad from my 70Z console to the 71 Z console because I really like it and I drive the 71 every day. (Not to mention, the JCCS judge gave me the evil eye on my 70Z indicating it wasn't a stock part). Also saw the pad on this photo, but this pad looks a bit taller and nicer than mine. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/album.php?albumid=177 Thanks, Rich

Ok, I bought a new vinyl panel for the inside of the hatch. It didn't come with any holes in it. The old one was attached via those little plastic pins that are used to attach all the plastic panels. It also had some sort of black sealer around the inside edge, probably to seal out exhaust gas. I like the look without the plastic pins, but that leaves me with using glue, which I'm concerned wouldn't hold. Has anyone had any luck using just glue? If so, what glue did you use? If I have to drill holes in this panel, does anyone have any tips on how to do it without messing up the vinyl? I'm thinking just put a piece of tape over it and drill. The attached pictur…

Does anyone know if this little vinyl boot is still available? It's the one that conceals the wires coming out for the console and going up into the dashboard. Mine has overspray on it and it would be nice to have a new one.

I have a 1971 ashtray in need of repair. The plastic shoulder that the left hinge pin is screwed into has broken and been lost along with the hinge pin. Does anyone have a hinge pin for sale or know where to get one? Secondly, has anyone had luck rebuilding lost or broken plastic parts? The ashtray is in presentable shape otherwise...

I just wanted to show you this cool conversion to make a series 2 steering wheel look like series 1 steering wheel. (Picture shown is JDM Series 2 steering wheel) You cut a piece off an aluminum panel in a shape of the slots, and then fit it right in without using any glue. Make sure it is tight fit. This conversion is still in process by a shop in Torrance,CA, since this is kind'a killing free time project.......If you pay someone to do it, it would be cheaper to buy a real Series 1 steering wheel after all. Oh, well....... (Courtesy of M. Matsuoka at M's Factory in Torrance, CA ) Esprist www.jdm-car-parts.com

A couple of years ago there was a discussion concerning stress relief drilling of dash cracks here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22361&highlight=dash+crack+drill (didn't want to awaken the sleeping old thread controversy) I just dropped my dash off in Tucson to be refurbed and have a small crack repaired and had a moment of clarity and remembered to ask the guy if that would work and he said that was exactly what he was going to do to stop it from going further. He said there was a slight chance it might resume in another directon but this would stop the current crack from further progress. Thought someone might need to know.
