I just replaced my outer shift boot on my 240Z. The clips don't stay in place. Has anyone glued theirs in place instead of using the clips? When I replaced the shift boot I noticed that the one I replaced was glued. I think it was the original one. Thanks LC

Thought I'd share these. This color combo mimics what I did on my previous 240Z. With the silver car it will be a bit monochromatic, but that's the effect I'm trying to achive. Carpets: Carpet is high grade indoor/outdoor material with sewn vinyl edging. I backed the carpet with 1/8" closed cell neoprene foam. This foam doesn't soak-up spilled liquid, good cushioning, easonable sound absorption and good recovery from compression. Seats: The seats were done by a local shop, (Jack's Auto Tops), with new foam from MSA. Jack does good work and is very reasonable. The seats need a bit of "massaging" and warmth to work out the wrinkles in the upper seat back, …

The PO of my 73 riveted :stupid:a St. Christopher medallion through an otherwise perfect dash. I want to remove the medallion and fix the (2) 1/8" holes. Anybody had luck trying to fill a hole in the dash, and how'd you do it?

I am currently making a fiberglass dash that looks just like the factory version, including the textured surface. First I removed the cracked, nasty, factory dash, leaving all wiring harnesses and gauges in the car. I then purchsed a plastic dash cap on eBay for $99 and am currently fiberglassing the underside with 3 layers of mesh + resin. This is necessary because the dash cap is extremely thin ABS meant to be a 1/16" skin on an existing dash. The trick is to lay the cap on its front top edge to prevent flopping, warping, or any kind of deflection while the first partial layer (only on the underside of the dash top) hardens to provide rigidity. Since I am using afterma…

Took the seats out of my (12/70) 71 240Z this weekend. the webbing underneath the seats was stretched/warped (I searched the forums and this looks normal). I am going to order the molded foam and covers from Classic Datsun. I am 6' 6" tall and with my sagging seats, I have plenty of headroom. (cn wear a ball cap no problem!) My question is twofold 1. With the parts I get from Classic Datsun (foam and covers) will I need to make some kind of provision to replace the webbing? 1a. Can I adapt my seat frames to accept the later model springs? Do I Need to order "original webbing"? Or would a local upholstery shop be able to adapt whatever the…

I have a 73 240Z, and I would like to install 1990-1996 300ZX seats. Would 300ZX seats fit my 240Z without too many modifications? I would like to be able to reinstall my original seats again if I ever sold the car. I also like 1996-1998 acura integra seats as well. Which seats would be better? Also, would the factory add on 240Z AC system be better that universal systems from classic air or other aftermarket companies? Does anyone have a set of 90-96 300ZX seats for sale? Brad Richards

Laid-out the carpets from my 72' 240z, (Nov/Dec 71' build date), to use as a trace-out pattern for my new carpet. I noticed what appears to be inspection stickers on the back of the rear and passenger front carpets. This makes me wonder if these are original to the car. Might be original as the car has only 78k miles. The back carpet has no attached pad and luggage strap notches. The fronts have sewn-in horsehair padding. Ignore the white paint. My fault, I left them out in harm's way. I recall in the VERY long carpet thread a while back that someone wanted original carpets to use as patterns. I did a search on "original carpets" but don't have an hour…

I dropped by the local p&p to get a new to me rearview mirror and found this nice-ish set of floormats. They are designated 280zx driver/passenger mats, and I am looking forward to using them. However, the driver's side one is obviously looking rather worse for wear and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to repair the damage. I was thinking of carefully removing the carpet and sourcing some new loop from a carpet place, but don't know just how well that would work. Any suggestions would be great! Also, any information about these would be interesting to know (i.e. dealership addons, aftermarket, etc.).

Anyone know of a good place to get a 280z drivers seat kit? Is it worth getting the seat kits? If it's outrageously expensive, i might just think about having my upholstery guy do it (try to match it)... The base of the seat is the only real problem (what you sit on) - the back is fine, with a few stitches on the seams.

Since I finally have a second vehicle to drive, I have been thinking about what I should do with the zx. My interior is complete, and in very good shape, with only a few cracks in the plastic (dash excluded, of course) but was faded noticeably in areas. Even though I think the tan and champagne colors work nicely, I have wanted to change it for some time. So I took the plunge and removed the bulk of the interior, cleaned with degreaser, wiped with clean strip, and sprayed with krylon fusion burgundy (satin). I know others have used the SEM products, but I couldn't find any in my area, so I went with what I had available. The interior is going to be a two tone burgundy…

Hello everyone, Over the weekend, I finally finished installing my Autolite Sport Comp Mechanical Oil Pressure & Temp Gauges. Now I want a matching Gas Gauge. Does anyone know the Ohm readings of the sending unit, both empty and full? It looks like I have several choices: http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp?Type=Fuel_Level&Series=Sport_Comp&Units=E 1) 0 - 30 Ohms 2) 0 - 90 Ohms 3) 16 - 158 Ohms 4) 240 - 33 Ohms 5) 73 - 10 Ohms Thanks...Robert

I have some damage to my Center Console...It isn't THAT bad, but I am trying to restore the car as best as I can. I know buying a replacement is the obvious solution, but they are pretty expensive (200 - 300/for the 1975 console) Can cracks in the plastic be fixed anyway? DIY fashion? Any ideas? (I can uploaded photos if you need to see the damage)
