What would be the best way to go about Reupholstering the carpet and driver's seat? The driver's seat isn't that bad; just the bottom portion (part you sit on) is torn up a bit. Do they sell just the foam and cover, which is secured with clamps under the seat? Am i better off just going to an upholstery guy? I heard they sell carpet kits that are precut for the 280; which sounds easy enough that I can do that one weekend. A friend suggested I put some sound dampening material underneath the carpet to reduce road noise; i thought it was a good idea. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I will post a pic tomorrow since I am at work at the moment. Basically, I have this interior console piece that has had me baffled since I purchased my 240z. It is a small clamshell or banana shaped plastic "mini console" that bolts onto the side of the existing center console right by where the dash meets the center console. It had 2 buttons on it. One was for the heater, and I believe the other was for the defroster, but I will have to doublecheck when I get home. It has the letters "ARA" on it. Does anyone have any idea if this is an actual factory piece? I've currently modified it to mount my remote VDO tach control pad, which I think will look really cool and …

I thought i had read a thread once that discussed all the differences between the different years and their center consoles, but i can't seem to find it now. Can anyone help the helpless. Specifically I have a 9/71 and the console I have does't seem to line up to the screw holes. It is most likely that the car was an automatic and I am trying to put a manual console in, but I know there has to be some info on this somewhere.

I just had my dash restored and I cleaned up the vents, including the housing for the end "eyeball" vents. The "fuzzy" stuff that held the "eyeball" vent in place is now pretty much destroyed due to aga and cleaning. Any suggestions on what I can use to hold the vents in place so they don't move all around?

I am restoring a 1973 Z. It will have new floor boards, so it wont have to have the stock seat mounts. It is being built for an occasional driver occasional racer. Stock engine this year, but next year it will likely have an RB25 or 26. Its suspension will be very tight with Tokico adjustable struts and 17" wheels. I am 5'11" tall and weigh 225 lbs (yeah, im on the chubby side) Can anyone recommend good seats for this? I want to spend under $400 per seat. AggieZ

Hey guys, I searched the forums but couldn't find any thing about it but my tach needle gets stuck at 4,000 RPM's. The only way to get it back down is by tapping tachometer face until it goes down, not my favorite thing to do while driving. Anyone else have this problem and can it be fixed without removing the dash? Thanks Graham

I've been wanting to do something different as far as attacking the flimsy interior plastic in the early Z. I could buy some new and spend 500$ for a complete new plastic interior or try something different and maybe better to some. I finally finished off one panel today. Basically I just fiberglassed the back side of all my panels to strenghthen them plus repair any cracks or broken pieces. Then I plan to vinyl cover the panels. I thought the vinyl would match the rest of the interior plus provide some noise suppression and the panels would be much stronger and last my life time. I picked out the easiest panel today to cover with the vinyl(which i found a perfect match a…

I feel like a newbie. I am putting my '73 240Z back together after paint and today I reassembled the door lock handle assemblies. They have been off the car for about a year and after I get them together the seem awfully tight. The handle hardly lifts and everything seems like it needs to be lubed... Do these things come back from the dead or do you have to buy new or hunt for good old? I have never had this problem with any of my old Z cars...
