My headliner is in good shape but sagging in the front a bit. How would that be attached? Any special glue that holds it that I would need to get to reattach it? If I could re-glue it is this a tough job to do?

Guys, I just received a new console from Courtesy Nissan (part number 96911-N4725) for my '77 280Z and noticed it has a slot in the top of the console, right where a choke lever would attach. But since 280Z's are fuel injected there is no choke lever.... The console came with a plug in this slot, but it's still pretty obvious it's there. Courtesy advertised it on their web site as fitting 1977 & 1978 280Z's--no other years listed. I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible so I don't want to put in a part that's obviously not correct. Any ideas about why the console has this slot? Was this used on early '75's? Thanks, Bob

Is the plastic rear finisher panel supposed to be black or match the colour of the other major interior panels, like the rear quarters, under-quarter-window panels... IMO, it should be satin black to minimize reflections in the mirror. Mine has some paint overspray from whomever painted the rear floor. The hatch finisher panel is satin black. BTW- Can you get new ones in HDPE or something that'll flex without cracking? thxZ

Just got the weatherstrip installed and the doors don't fully close. I thought someone had posted earlier that it was a good fit. Had to cut it down to get the doors flush again. Just thought I'd let you know.

So I have been reading the posts about the dash repair process that fills the cracks and then is repainted with the sem texture coating. I have been thinking about doing this for awhile, but since I first thought about doing it another crack showed up. So that got me to thinking about something more permanent. What if the current cracks are filled (like outlined in the other post) but than the whole top portion of the dash is covered in one or two layers of fiber glass. After that the top section is finish with the texture coating we've all read about. You wouldn't have to worry about any more cracks right? Shoot me questions, comments and concerns!

So today I decided I couldn't stand the look of the trunk of my car... is it called a trunk? Anyway in the rear area, I had taken everything out pretty much. The carpet was shredding and everything was going downhill due to leaking issues. I wanted to buy the new fitted carpet kit, but I don't have any extra money laying around, so I did the next best thing. I made my own. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b297/untsnare/IMAGE_070.jpg about an hour and 45 minutes later... http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b297/untsnare/IMAGE_071-2.jpg I just need to wipe it down, and do small things.

Hi, I’m rehabbing an ’81 280ZX. I’m trying to remove the combination gauge (oil/volts/digital clock) & the shop manual says to get it out through the glove box area. My problem is the digital clock’s 1.5 stem for stopwatch function is in the way. Anybody know how to remove the stem? It’s a working clock so I don’t want to brute force it off in order to get the gauges out. I searched the forums & most references seem to be dealing with analog clocks that don't have that pesky long stem. Thanks.

I am in the process of getting out all the rust..........but continue to day dream of the day I will get it all painted and pretty again. I am not sure if I should repaint my 1971 all orginal 240z the factory 905 red or change it to a color I would perfer more, maybe a factory silver..... I removed everything inside but the dash in my rust survey. If I choose another color I will have to remove the engine and do the engine compartment also. the engine comparment only needs minor paint touchups now. Not sure what the added cost would be for a painter to pull the engine. Hell, I am not even sure I can afford a good paint job. those of you who have gotton nice paint jobs cou…

I was just looking at the piece of plastic that covers the hand throttle slot. It is very brittle and has broken on one end. About 1/4" x3". What are you guys using to replace this? Looks like it is some type of thin plastic. Thanks, as usual.

I expect to get in some carpet today, that judging from the 2" sample they sent me may be a suitable replacement for the early Z loop style carpet. The carpet has the rubber type backing. I have an original drivers side floor mat that I will be trying to replicate for ZUP, and you guys to take a look at. If it meets the requirements, I think that with the correct patterns I can reproduce complete sets with the correct serged cutouts for those who are interested. We'll see how this first mat turns out and go from there. Bryan
