Does anyone know how close the vinyl basketweave seat covers offered by Black Dragon Automotive for a '78 280z are to the OEM pattern? The picture on their website looks very accurate but I'm wondering about the quality and design of the actual product. Thanks!

My '71 is badly in nead of some new upholstery. the original seats are a vinyl two-tone color butterscotch, dark center (ginger looking) and butterscotch sides and back. I would like to stay with this. I have see a few places advertising this combo but after inquiry for purchase they tell me they are out and won't get anymore material. Does anyone know where I can still get the two-tone combo? if not, does anyone have a picture of the one color butterscotch or the vinyl fabric center combo in vinyl. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Seats are out of the car and I want to drive. Thanks Steve

Hit the pad all over with a hanner, then use a 5 in 1 or puddy knife and it lifts up in large piece's.

I've got a 1978 280z, with an all black interior, and the black "basketweave" seat upholstery. The passenger seat is in pretty good shape, but the driver's is shot to pieces. I've been sitting on a thin, cheap seat cover the PO put in, but i'd really like to sit on a real seat. I've found new seat foams at thezstore.com for $80/seat, and I can get a pair of the basketweave seat upholsteries from black dragon auto for $300, which puts my total parts cost at about $460, plus shipping. Does this sound reasonable? This is a field i know little about. -Ben

Would anyone know what cost or time it takes to replace a 240 Z Dash? We are trying to complete an insurance claim and the dash needed replaced. I found the part easily enough but could not find a value for replacing it. Also needed a console replaced but though it would be much easier than a Dash. Am I correct? Thanks, Tom or mishunaire@aol.com

Saw a few threads about people restoring their steering wheels, and I had 2 days off in a row, so I figured I'd take a hack at it. Turned out great! I forgot to take before pictures, but the after ones look like a new wheel! I also did the shift knob, i didnt want the wheel looking new while the shift knob was old and ratty. It too turned out pretty good. Materials: Dupli-Color Clear Lacquer Semi-Gloss Wheel Paint (used wheel paint because its supposed to be stronger, and i figured that if it has a chance at lasting on wheels, then it should stand hold up pretty good in the interior of my car.) 320 grit sand paper, and scotch pad. It was a pretty easy process, …

When I finished my car I used the body seal "kit" that's available through just about everyone (MSA, VB, Too Intense). And as we all already know the door seals are a B!+@#. I've done just about everything except wait a year. It's actually been about 3 months and they are still tight. Well, at this past convention I spoke with several people who used a universal door seal from JC Whitney . They told me it was an easy fit and the door closed right the first time. When I looked at the seal they looked almost like the OEM factory style. If you didn't know they were from JC Whitney then you wouldn't even notice. So my question is, has anyone here tried these? Any feedback? A…

So I order the 50-5220 White Face Gauge kit from MSA. Today, I instal the kit on the temp/oil gauge, followed by the Amp/Fuel gauge, then I get to the Usual NON-working clock. I go to the local Value Village and buy 2) AA battery operated small clocks. I tear the smaller of the 2 down and build a battery operated clock into the Z's clock. Looks and works beautiful, battery sits back behind the fusebox area. So I tear the Tach out, dissasemble it, paint the back of the face with chrome paint, go to put the Vinyl sticker on and find it's off a smidge. So I line up the mounting holes and tweek it just enought that 0 to 1000 RPM's is dead on. The rest is off a little b…

I have completed the body work and paint, have had the engine rebuilt, and am in process of having new suspension parts (struts, springs, bushings, etc) installed this week. Also, replaced the 4 speed and R180 with a 5 speed and R200 diff. Next, much to do on the interior ... I feel pretty good about sourcing everything but the door panels. The PO put in speakers and trashed a lot of the remaining door panel hardboard. I am trying to figure out my best options. I was hoping to find some used panels with poor skins but good hardboard and just recover them. I was also looking to see if anyone made new repros, but the only option was an Ebay provider and I am not sur…
