Hey, I am considering having my interior redone. I am in the process of removing the tar from my interior and fix minor rust spots and then have it paint with por-15 before I take it to a shop to have the custom carpet kit install. I am planning on having the interior installation done at Z car garage in San Jose, CA. My current question is that I had a quote over the phone for around 1k and the fellow said that for that price the work includes: tar removal (which I am doing so I can get it painted with por-15), sound deadening installation on all the panels including doors, and then laying the carpet kit over it (price varies depending on which kit, however the one I…

Anyone done this? I removed the trim piece near the windshield (5 phillips screws), the 6 10mm bolts at the front of the dash, the 2 10mm bolts into the console area. Both vent handle mounts and the steering column bolts. Don't think these really matter, just did them in case. Seems like somethings still holding the dash in, any ideas? Thanks in advance............

hey i was wondering, what kind of glue i should use or some other crazy contraption to hold down my carpet. as of now its molded in place and ready to be glued down. any suggestions?

Well this afternoon I picked up used Recaro seats and this evening I pulled out one stock datsun seat to do a test fit. As you can see the pictures they are similiar in size to the stock seats, just a tad wider and a tad taller not to mention a helluva lot more side bolster and the fit... well honestly not that bad at all... i'll need to fab a new bracket but fit is pretty close all in all it doesn't hit on the door or on the console but I do have a rollbar that it sits up against if I recline it a lot. My wife has given the passanger side her approval so I figure I'll fab up what I need this weekend if I get the time.

I saw Tomohawk's thread on 280z replacement seats, but I have searched for advice on comfortable replacement seats for the 240z with mixed results. Thought I would ask the question in a specific thread. I am aware of Miata and Acura seats as options, are there other options (other than racing seats) that would work? I am looking for better comfort and support than the standard 240z seat. Thanks, Stephen

I just bought a pair of 98 Integra GSR black leather seats for $240 and installed them. They fit perfectly, look like they belong on the car, and the stock seat belts are still usable without modification. Removing the GSR seat rails was a bit of a pain due to the many spot welds that I had to drill out. Once I got the seat rails off I installed two pieces of steel flat stock 1/8" x 4"W 18"L across where the GSR seat rails used to attach at the front and rear of the seat. Then I bolted the Z sliders to the flat stock after a test fit in the car. The GSR seats are much more supportive especially in the lumbar area. Miles

I had a half-broken dove tail on my door when I got my car and took it off, the passenger side never had one. My doors close well and never seem to have any problems ... so why are they part of the door? I'm putting together a list of things that need replacing on the car and want to know if these are something to drop 20 bucks each on? Thanks for the help.

I found a lot of information about door seals (weatherstripping) that can be purchased at jcwhitney, but what about the inner and outer hatch seals ( 72 240z). Has anyone found anything that works from jcwhitney? Oh, and the outer rubber window seals (the ones that keep the water from entering the inside of the door itself). Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

I am looking for a nice set of black 300ZX seats to put in my 73 240Z. Does anyone know if any mods are needed to install the 300ZX seats? Where would be a good place to look for them besides ebay.

I need to to replace the control graphic on my 260 heater control panel I printed the image on sticky vinyl and then put it on a peice of plexiglass. It worked well. here is the graphic if anyone else would like to use it.
