Hi there, Digging through the garage to get rid of some stuff on ebay, and came across what I think is 1973 heater/control. I know that the 70-72 had a black, non-back lite heater control, but I believe the 1973 did. Did the 260z use the same one? I want to put it up on ebay, but don't want to list it for a '74 if that is incorrect. I know some people were putting them earlier cars so they would have the back light on the heater control. Any idea what they are worth as far as a reserve? Found all sorts of odd ball stuff, now if I could just find something I was actually looking for......... BobLOL

I have a couple of questions for those with good knowledge of these early cars. First, I have noticed on a few 1970 cars, that the interior door panels have a couple of chromed phillips heat screws with finish washers which help attach the panels to the inside door frame, and are located on either side of the door release latch at the bottom of each door. Can anyone confirm that these are a stock items, and, if so, which vin #s would apply? Also, apparently some early series 1 cars had a black plastic seat cushion guard located at the forward, outside edge of the seat cushions, and attached with machine screws beneath the seat to the seat frames. Does anyone have a ver…

Unfortunately, I bought some 280z seats, because of the better spring bottoms, and they were cheap (because the brackets weren't included). I had thought they would be the same as on my '72 240z seats, but they are not; instead of being fastened with bolts going through the slider brackets and a nut/washer being up on top of the seat frame, the 280 sliders 4 bolts appear to screw into the bottom frame of the seat, making the 240z seat sliders not compatible with the 280z seats. If anyone has an 'in bad condition' 280z seat lying around, even one, I would love to get a PM from you, as I would be interested in purchasing some of these brackets. Thank you, and happy Va…

Well, I think my 2nd heater core is toast. Pulled it from a 78 z in the junkyard, very clean, good condition as far as I could tell. That was 6 months ago. It leaks inside the housing and the water drips down the sides soaking the carpet. It leaks mostly when the engine is off, when pressure is maintained in the system, as I removed the heater control valve due to that leaking several years ago. My question is, is the heater core meant to be subjected to constant pressure all the time like when the heater is on it's hottest setting? Perhaps it's a slow destructive process. Well, here'e a possible solution: Local parts shop said they'd sell me a new one for $100 with a li…

So, I did some searching through this site, and figured out some info, but I still don't quite understand everything yet. My door locks on my Z operate just fine, but each door lock has a mind of it's own. On the driver's side, the door will lock as soon as the door is shut, meaning that I have to keep the key turned in order to unlock the door, and I have to hold the lock plunger up in order to exit the car. The passenger side door will not lock unless the door is shut (which from what I understand is normal for the 240Z's) and I can lock it from inside of the car, but if I try to lock it with the key, I actually bend the key and have almost broken the key off in the …

When I bought my Z, the carpet was completely stripped to the bare metal. I have a carpet kit for the floorboards. The rear hatch area is also bare, just metal, spare tire, and jack. From pictures of other Z's it looks like a a carpeted cover over the spare tire well? Can something like this be purchased? perhaps I can make a custom cover.

Looking to freshen up the interior of my 240 and would like any suggestions of companies that sell quality parts, original or reproductions. Am looking to replace black door coverings, hard cardboard kick panels to the right (passenger) and left (driver) feet area, metal threshold under the doors, and the curved vinyl between the doors and the seats. Thanks for the help. Tom
