On a 280Z- I accidentally pulled the glove box door support out when I leaned on the glove box door to get something out. Is that normal? You have to unscrew it and stick it back in the hole, then reattach if it pulls out. It would be better if the thing didn't pill out so easily when you reach in to get something. thx

I just purchased door welt from MSA as my car has never had any since Ive owned it. I got the kits and there is not enough to do the entire door opening, about 18 to 20 inches short. The kit came in two pieces one long one short. I called MSA and was told that there is no welt on the bottom of the door and that the door sill plate is supposed to anchor it across the bottom. I can see no possible way for that to work!! The sill plate would have to cover the seal from the outside with metal. Im lost here. Having never seen an original install I am w/o a clue. I think the newer seals with the built in welt go all the way around the door. Any help appreciated. Best, H Houghto…

As all You know restoration is tooo expensive and its good to try rstore some parts that makes me to decided restore the original steering wheel. It looks good but Im going to give the SW about 4 more coats of paint just to have a better finished product. I really like the way the original SW looks, so Im gonna keep the stock one with some new leather skin.

I've got a '72 and I need to put the lighter in the dash. The flasher switch is easy because you simply unscrew it from th ebracket & slide it on through the front. Does the lighter do the same thing? I've looked at it but I'm afraid to try it because I'm sure I'll break it. But, I can't see how the lighter is supposed to site behind the dash and be right.

I have a guy (local to me) who is interested in purchasing my complete dash and console out of my '78 280z parts car to put into his '73 240z. Steering column, all brackets, harnesses, everthing! He says he knows the wiring is 100x more complicated, but he wants to do it anyway. What issues are there for doing this swap? I don't want the guy coming back to me and complaining that the dash won't fit!

Hi All! I just did a search for this and all I came up with was a thread from 2003 that pretty much said "good luck finding a single hatch strut" I have tried a strut from a 280Z that had two struts, and of course, it was not strong enough. My single strut is not strong enough to hold the hatch up and I really would like a new one. I am hoping that between 2003 and now that there is a source for these. Anybody point me in the right direction? Regards, Jeff

Does anyone have anyexperience trying to restore the heater/radio/center console piece on a 240z. I have one with good chrome edges but the black paint is worn. My thought is to repaint the black but how can I protect the lettering for the heater controls? My brother suggested using rubber cement to cover the letters and it can then be easily removed but my concern is the cement would remove the letters. Any suggestions. I am trying to find an alternative to spending 200 dollars for a new one. Thanks! Carl
