Three questions on this: I have some leftover Thermo Tec. Has anyone seen any benefit in applying this to the door? The openings in the door were each covered with homemade plastic covers that I made 20-30 years ago out of 5 mil Mylar, but I don't remember if I was replacing factory-original covers. Were these original? The entire door was covered by a 'watershield', but I remember even less about that. The FSM only mentions that it exists, but doesn't illustrate it. I think it was a thin plastic sheet secured on the top and sides (but not bottom). Does that sound right? Thanks in advance...

So my original key switch had a minor idiosyncrasy in that the key had to be in just the right spot in order for it to turn. I ordered a new assembly which seems to be of high quality and works as it should. However, the trim ring is too small by about 1.3mm, to fit around the new key switch. The car is a 71 and I’m not sure if the switch I have replaced was original or not. The new switch looks like crap without a trim ring around it and I don’t think I can live with it. Before I go monkeying with trying to stretch out the trim ring, are there alternative rings that will fit replacement switches? Can the old tumbler be refurbished to work without fiddling with it every…

I'm trying to reassemble my doors, and I can't find the hardware that attaches the door lock bell crank to the door metal. A diagram from carpartsmanual.com shows this: ...but I can't find anything resembling 13, 14, or 15 in the parts I removed. I'm also confused by the fact that the diagram calls out qty 4 for the collar (13). Were two collars used, with one on each side of the bell crank? Does anybody know if this collar is metal, or nylon? Of course I can't find any reproduction parts, and I fear that a homemade solution will provide sloppy performance. So, does this diagram look correct? Thanks guys...

As I look around at re-upholstery kits, I see two different types, one with recline option or one without: https://jdm-car-parts.com/collections/interior-trim-nissan-datsun-fairlady-z-240z-260z-280z-280zx/products/datsun-240z-1969-1971-seat-cover-set?variant=1045889564 My z is a series one 12/70. However, the seats do recline, albeit only a few inches.

Hey Guys, I'm close to needing to get my dash restored for reassembling my '70. I'm not finding any postings on recent vendor experience with either Just Dashes or Dashboard Restorations USA. Can anyone who has had a dash restored by either in the last year or so give a testimonial as to quality and satisfaction? I stopped by Just Dashes a couple of years ago while in the Van Nuys area, and they appeared to do good work, although at the time they seemed expensive compared to Dashboard Restorations. That may have equalized some since I just got a quote from Dashboard Restorations for $850 which was Just Dashes price back then. Just Dashes hasn't responded to my inquiry yet…

My seats are not torn or ripped and not brittle or breaking. However, they look like the have dirt all over them. When they are wet with product they look fabulous. When they dry they go back to the dirty/faded look. Anybody have a good product they use on seat to refresh them?

I am just now installing these i bought a while back. the instructions they came with are junk. I was able to determine where everything goes but i ahve 2 concerns. 1. The retraction box goes behind the seat and through the floor pan. Isnt this a pretty weak spot. Did anyone reinfroce it? My pans are in great shape too and it still seems weak. 2. In image 1 you see the bolt that attaches somewhere up in the area of image 2. Normally i would put a nut on something like this....not sure if that is even possile. Has anyone else upgraded and solved these issues? thanks!

Has anyone found a modern or commonly available hydraulic strut for the rear hatch? I need to open and close mine 3-4 times before it will pump up enough to stay up. Thanks, Chris

Seatbelt guide on 280z. 1977. Anyone out there make this guide or have an extra they don't need, let me know. Thanks! I guess after 40 + years, it was bound to snap off.

Has anyone else had to make major modifications in the firewall insulation panel which was manufactured by Distinctive industries...? I purchased the board from MSA for my 3/73 car and am having a hell of a time getting it to properly fit. I realize there was an asterisk by the "73" for compatibility...but the trimming and cutting and shaving, etc...! Just a little frustrating...

What is the best way to restore the carpet and padding in a 240z? Are there kits out there that work well, or should I just cut everything myself? Is there sound deadening material I should use?
