Does anybody know where I can find a cover and metal ashtray 'snuffer' (metal piece you crush cigarettes out on) for a '71 tray in front of the shift console without coughing up the appropriate lung for an ebay original part? I can't find these anywhere, and with the high probability for breakage for this part, I can't believe someone hasn't come up with a replacement aftermarket part. I also have a console from I believe a late '71-'72 (silver slide ashtray behind the shift) but I'd really like to keep my '71 as stock as possible. I was even looking to fabricate the part and see if I could get some company to manufacture them since they seem to be in such short supply, b…

Hi, I recently purchased some used luggage straps. They are pretty grimey. I was thinking of just soaking them in a bucket of soapy water and brushing them off. Then I was going to buff out the buckles. I assume the soaking won't hurt them. Any suggestions? Thanks, Greg

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to the problem i found with my shifter. I see that most all newer shift knobs are made for a 12mm x 1.75 or 10mm x 1.50 . I bought my brother a Nismo knob and it doesn't fit on his 260 with a type 1 5 speed. I have read that the early z up to the 300zx were 8mm x 1.25 , does anyone know of a company or a place to buy the reducer kits for the knobs? I see most knobs come with reducers for 10mm only. I found a place that will make custom threaded reducers but before I went that far I was hoping someone had a answer to the prob . Thanks

Can anyone read Japanese out there? (Alan). The attached pic shows a sticker on the reverse side of an interior plastic trim panel from my '73 240Z. I have removed all of the interior panels and every one has a similar sticker - I can only assume they are a form of factory Quality Assurance approval? Can anyone confirm this? Another interesting point... The reverse side of this panel is Red in colour but the exposed side (visible in the cabin) is Tan. I'm guessing a previous owner has replaced the panel with a non-original coloured one (from another car?) and painted it to match...Or maybe that was done on the production line too..?

Hi All, Received the calendar clock from Remy (somefatcreep) yesterday. Its a neat piece. I took the outer bezel off and took a couple pics. I was surprised to see its a Citizen mechanism. I assume because it says "Citizen" below the stem, it must be. I need to find a knob for the stem but other than that its in great shape. Chris

I found someone on the internet that will sell me OEM door weather-stripping for the 240Z real cheap. The Nissan part numbers they gave me were G6921-W6000 and 76921-E4101 (x2 for each door). I called the local Nissan dealership and the part numbers they gave me were 80335-N3700 for right door, and 80336-N3700 for left door. I also found a thread from this site with part numbers 76801-E4100 and 76802-E4100. Can anyone confirm any of these numbers? I would like to try the G6921-w600 & 76921-E4101s as they are very reasonably priced at $32 for each door. Just not sure if they will fit and are OEM. Thanks.

When my son and I bought our '71 240 last May, we got a large quantity of spare 240Z parts included in the deal (basiclly an entire '72 240Z w/o the unibody, hood & windshield). Among those parts was something that we had never seen before.....a set of orange and black checkered floor mats & rear hatch area mat made by Datsun for the 240Z. They are not in the greatest condition, and we were going to throw them away but decided to hold on to them in case someone would be interested. Frankly, I don't find them very attractive, but they certainly do have a nostalgic early '70s look to them. My son and I put them on ebay yesterday just to see if there would be any in…

I found this picture of a so called "JDM Fairlady Z" horn button online and I was wondering if anyone knows more about this piece. From most of the S30 horn buttons I have seen, the rubber body looks pretty much like the export buttons, even with the molded-in stitching. This one doesn't have that stitching. Was it released in conjunction with the compe steering wheel? check out the pic...

Are the Series I steering wheels tough to find? How much money am I looking at to buy one in today's market? Also, I can't seem to find any 240 horn pads that are not cracked on the mounting area. Are new ones available anywhere?

Here is one I don't think we have covered before. In my long term memory I remeber seeing a JDM ac unit in a 240Z. The evaporator unit was actually behind and between the seats, giving the driver and the passenger a frozen elbow. The compressor went where the air pump is on our version-which were the reasons all US a/cs were aftermarket. Does anyone happen to have a picture of the unit, its' controls? I am looking for drawings or photographs, a copy or scan of the Japanese FSM or Owners Manual with those details is exactly what I am hunting for-Kats, 26th, Carl, Mike, anyone, anyone, anyone at all? Verbal translation is not important to me, just the images! Will
