I'm restoring a 1970 Fairlady Z and I need to replace the heater control panel. My "Off" is on the far right and I've not seen one like this. "heat vent off" "heat room" "room def" I also want to change the control mechanism. Is it possible to use one of the more common heater control panels and connect the cables differently so that everything does what its supposed to? Alternatively, is there a source for a direct replacement for my panel? Thanks in advance.

Right now with all the other stuff Im planning my interior is possibly gonna be put off for at least a year. I was trying to think of some cheap ways to improve my interior since Im currently using my car as a daily driver. I was thinking of trying vinyl dye on many of the brown interior parts to make em black. Anyone ever tried this?

I had some antifreeze leaking on the passenger floormat and assumed that it was either the heater hoses or the valve so I replaced them. After putting it back together I noticed that it was the core itself leaking around a fitting! I have an extra core that is already out of my parts car. I hooked it up to a compressor and shot about 35 psi into it while it was submerged in a laundry tub. There was no air bubbles from the core. Is this a good enough test for it or should I take it to a radiator shop to have it checked? Also I had planned to swap the dash in the car with my parts car dash, is it easier to change the heater core while the dash is out? Thanks again for any …

OK everyone, Here's a semi-serious quiz for anyone who fancies having a shot. Some of you will know the answer, or at least hav a pretty close guess straight away. Maybe we can spin in out a little and expand the subject so that we can all learn from it. Here's a picture of a section cut out from an S30-series Z bodyshell. The section includes the area at the base of the quarter window, the inner wheel arch and the door jamb. This section was cut out of a UK-market HS30 body that dated from around 1973 ( didn't look at the VIN or any other identifying features I'm afraid ) but that SHOULD be irrelevant to our quiz, as I'm pretty sure that ALL models of early S30-series…
