Ok, so I'm undoubtedly going to feel really stupid when someone tells me, but how do you disconnect the light fitting on the back of the clock? Pic attached with the one I'm talking about pointed to by a red arrow. I didn't want to pull too hard, it just spins around so it doesn't unscrew, and I poked around in the little recess (under the arrow) seeing if that was a release, but couldn't get it to come off. What silly thing am I missing? Thanks.

Request: Someone that has intact tool compartments and the brackets that go with them - would you take a picture of the bracket that attaches to the vertical wall behind the drivers seat, that I assume the tool compartment attaches to? I've attached a picture of what I have and circled the area that I'm talking about. My compartments are gone. The brackets attached to the floor appear to still be there, but the ones where the top of the compartment probably attaches are gone. There are two holes where the brackets probably were. I'll either have to find a donor car, or try to make new brackets. I know I can get the compartments themselves from MSA or VB, but not t…

I know many of you discuss floor work and floor replacement. I am restoring from bare metal and one of my issues was to find the thick tar-like insulation material bonded to the interior floors. Nissan still has it and I ordered plain sheets of it as the original part number (precut) is NLA. G5930-89902 replaces the original 74913-E4125 Now I found the same material for half the price at Auto Carpet Direct in North Carolina. Their material is called MASEL and it comes in 72"x48" sheets for $60. www.automotivecarpet.com They also have jute padding, foil faced padding, and carpet kits for the Zed.

Hi all, I'm considering getting an A/C unit for my '72 240Z and wanted to get some input on which unit to buy. My car came from the factory with no A/C and currently has nothing A/C related installed on it. If you were starting from scratch, what unit would you buy. I'm pretty sure I don't want to go the factory A/C route as that unit is not very effecient. I believe the MSA and Courtesy Nissan units may be the same brand but, I'm not sure. Vintange Air and Classic Air are very popular with the Mustang and Muscle car crowd but they don't make a unit specifically for the Z. They do have generic kits that "might" work. What would you buy? Has anyone had experience wi…

Hi, I bought a complete seal kit from StrictlyZ but it didn't contain the seals for inside the door frame (see picture) Any ideas on where to get these? Also anyone know what is happening with StrictlyZ (they don't seem to reply to my order emails)? Thanks, Ivan

I know that there were changes to the dashboard over the years that the 240Z was made. Did any of those changes involve in ANY way the glovebox? I need to know so that I know what years I can take the 'box' part of the glovebox from to replace mine.

'71 Hatch Strut 1 2

Is this a normal hatch strut for an early '71 model? It has a "leg" on it that holds the hatch open and you have to lift it up to close the hatch. This just seams strange to me, the strut should be all that holds the hatch open...but then again there is only one strut and this hatch is heavy.

I am thinking of refinishing my wheel (I have refinished lots of furntiture before), but I see in some places people calling it simulated wood. I haven't picked at it to see, but does anyone know for sure?? Did Datsun offer real wood as an option? Thanks!

In an early '71 (8/70 production date) 240Z where is the Hi/Low Beam indicator? How hard is it to replace the blub? Is there a fuse that runs only this indicator? The car failed inspection partly due to this not working and I'm figuring it is a burned out bulb.

My dash in my '72 240Z has 2 large crevasses in front of the driver and passneger. I know it is expensive to find a replacement for this and I've seen the covers that MSA sells. I don't particularly care for either of those options. So- I have been considering trying to fabricate my own dash. What kind of difficulties would I face when attempting this? Anyone done it already? What materials are best? Aluminum? Fiberglass? I think I would buy aftermarket gauges and stereo, making the dash around these. Am I crazy?:stupid: Should I just leave the dash alone? thanks!
