What was old is new again! A nice aftermarket Alpine radio was in my car when I purchased it, but I have always want to put an original Hitachi radio back in. Luckily for me, a buddy of jfaseries1 , Scott M moved here and I was able to work a deal with him for one of his spare radio's. After recently working on some of Zup's early radio's, and with the nice weather here of late, I got the bug to get it installed. Tested, refreshed & cleaned the radio up, removing the corrosion they all seem to have on the top plate. Then, with the schematic & a new 6 pin male connector, (thanks for sourcing that for me Zup) I was able to return the wiring to factor…

Has anyone used the JDM Parts radio delete pocket? I'd like to pop one into my '73 and wanted to check fitment. Thanks. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/reproduction-radio-delete-pocket-for-fairlady-z-z432r-datsun-240z?variant=25008521737 Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk

I found a replica grip for the Datsun roadster parking brake handle. Does anyone know how similar this might be to the one for the 240z? I can’t find any good photos to do a comparison. I was told the inside diameter of the replica grip is 17.5 mm, which is close to the OD of the lever tube. Could work.

Replacing the interior of my 280z once it’s done getting painted. I might have to replace the floor panel on drivers side. Passages I’m not sure. If I don’t have to replace the passengers side floor panel is it worth removing all the sound deadening and replacing it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is there a way to raise the hat shut lines so that I don't have to keep slamming the hatch to close it? I have an OEM seal on it and have had it for a while and still seem to have to slam the hatch. Is my hatch adjusted incorrectly?

It seems like nearly every 240z wheel is darker than the brochure photos? Has anyone restored to the original colour?

I recently purchased the molded foam insert from the Z store. I am having trouble with it fitting properly at the arm rest area. It seems to be too narrow in this area. If you pull it over to fit over the armrest on one side then it pulls away from the other side. Anybody else have this problem. If so what did you do to make it work. Looking for suggestions.

Ever since purchasing my 1970 240Z last April I found the refurbished seats lacking support. I searched for the recommended seats for swapping, but was unable to find any in both nice shape and reasonably priced. Purchasing locally appeared to be the only option due to shipping costs. In my research I found Miata owners using Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86/Scion FR-S seats and since Miata seats are popular swaps for 240Z’s, I decided to focus on the Subaru/Toyota seats. BRZ seat measurements: Seat: 19.5” wide x 19.5” long Hinge Width: 22” Seat Back Height: 33” During the research process I found a great post by Sean240Z from Feb 2…

I am in the process of installing the bucket’s interior. Often times I find that parts need to installed, removed, adjusted/repaired and then re-installed. A while back I bought plastic rivets for interior. Two sizes are required. The taillight panel requires 8. I believe they are $3.00 each. The interior plastic requires approximately 40. These are larger and come in bags of 10 at approximately $7.00 a bag. I don’t think that they are available at your local hardware store so there is shipping cost and worst of all for me time delay. So, the cost of these plastic rivets is annoyingly expensive (approximately $50+) considering it is just a fastener. These rivets…

I recently purchased new foam inserts and upholstery trim kit for my 1977 from the Z Store, which says that the foam might need to be modified. When I removed the old upholstery and foam, I found that the new foam doesn't quite fit. The main body foam slips into the frame perfectly but there is a plate over the headrest area which causes the foam to sit to high off the headrest. Does anyone have any experience with these foam inserts and/or can anyone offer me any recommendations on what to do? Should I modify the foam, or maybe remove the plate? Also, does anyone know what the bar on the headrest is? I don't remember see it attached to any thing when I removed the old se…

Replacement of the Inner and outer Shift boot When I bought the bucket it did not have an inner or an outer shift boot. Replacing the inner shift boot is fairly obvious. There is a rectangular ring that surrounds the boot and holds it in place. The outer boot is soft vinyl, or leather and it slips over the gear stick. Mistake 1: I installed the center console after completing work on the center console area and everything that is involved with that like the vinyl over the trans. tunnel, choke control, fuse box lid, indicators, radio etc. It turns out to install the outer shift boot you must remove the center console so that you can press the spring clips…

Folks, bored last night got nothing else todo, while waiting for parts for other stuff. my rear mirror’s mounting/base point is broken in few pieces and missing big chunk as well. Only if I have access to CNC or a 3D printer... what the fun in it? what I did was common sense I suppose. Super glue all the remaining pieces together. create a paper template. find a scrap piece of metal. Mine is very thin. Perhaps 24 gauge. trace the template and start snipping it. a press, sharp flat chisel might be better for the center opening. File it as best as you can. It’s hidden inside so long no obstruction w…
