   Door trims

   I have been looking at finding some door trims in decent shape and see a lot of them tend to warp and crack (being wood), presumably a mix of water and wear and tear. Is there any tried and tested way for protecting/preserving these? Their shape looks a bit complex to copy using sheet metal. I was thinking about coating them with resin and a thin layer of fibreglass matting. Opinions?

   Dash Light Bulbs.

   Hi guys, been meaning to change the bulbs in the guages for quite some time but put it off knowing it was a fairly intensive job as well as fidly. Anyway I got the bulbs out no problems however I noticed there quite tinted. Now the Dash is dark enough as it is, I'm wondering is there a reason they'd put dull bulbs in there or would it be ok if not better to have normal clear bulbs? I ask becuase tomorrow I'll be buying the new ones and wanna know if it makes a difference. 1 advantage of the 260z is that this is easier to do . Anyway this might indefinately put me off white guage faces. Also while I'm on the topic does anyone know where to get the stickers that say H…

   Heater Valve

   The heater control valve on my 77 280z (non A/C type) was not working well (subject to vibration from circulating coolant at intermediate settings between hot and cold) I got a new replacement from Motorsports. It appeared to be NOS (made in Japan anyway). After the difficult installation process done by a professional Z car garage, the new part seems to have the same problem, although less extreme. Has anyone else had this problem? Given my experience with two similar experiences in a row, is this a minor design flaw or am I unlucky? Any known fixes? Thanks!

   Dash HVAC ducts

   Well, I removed my dash tonight (there are a few rust holes high on the passenger firewall, and I didn't want welding to go on back there with the dash in). Before I even started, a couple pieces of the HVAC ductwork had fallen out from under the dash in pieces. While removing the dash, even being careful, a couple of the other sections essentially disintegrated. Extremely brittle. So, are these things available anywhere, or do I have to find used ones or fabricate something? A couple of them are completely unsalvagable - pieces less than an inch long.

   I read on Hybrid Z that some Jaguar shift knobs fit the thread of the Z shifter stick perfectly... I dont know which years and model of jaguar will work. (Maybe someone else knows). This is the pic of the shift knob which is supposed to work. It may not be to everyones taste, but it is different if thats what your looking for

   I have been trying to find screws that hold the plastic covers which go on both sides of the seats. I can find the correct width of screw but I can't seem to find the correct thread anywhere.. Does anyone have any spare? Or know where i can get the correct ones? I dont want to force an incorrectly threaded screw as this will damage the threads in the metal base the cover screws onto.. Any help will be most appreciated..

   Can I go from this dash.... to this dash in my 1982 280ZX??? Because I really just do not like the *boxiness* of the dash and instrument layout... I am mainly interested in the Speedometer and tachometer.. not all those other guages for boost and stuff....

   I've got 240Z number 319 (made 11/69). It is almost completely stock. Everything looks good except the interior. After 33 years the plastic is falling apart. Valuewise I'm trying to decide whether to leave the interior ugly and originial or to make it nice. Any recommendations?? Mark Matthews, NC

    Hi all, My console lid use to have a silver line going around the lid, but with age this has nearly completly come off... Has anyone tried touching this up with one of those silver paint pens or should I just mask the area and use a fine brush and a small pot of hobby model silver paint? Thanks..
