Vinyl preservation, I am frequently asked what I use on my 1970 240Zs original dash, original door panels, and original vinyl quilted material so thought I would share it. I have seen and heard of a lot of ways and different products that are suppose to protect the vinyl surfaces in cars. None of them seamed to work well for me. Then I stumbled upon Passier, Lederbalsam, a fine leather dressing made in Germany. This stuff is great, clean the area with a damp cloth, then liberally apply the Lederbalsam, leave it on overnight. The following day wipe off the excesses. When I bought my car from the original owner about 3 years ago the dash was uncracked, but very hard an…

Any recomendations regarding seat covers and ease of fitting? In Australia one would go to an upholstererand have covers made and fitted at about $250 Aus a pair. The USA covers cost about $200 US a pair + shipping and are closer to original? Any ideas Nick

I've looked through both my Datsun '73 service manual as well as the Haynes manual. One refers me back to a supplement specific and separate to the 240Z Hitachi radio while the other says nothing..... I've got 4 wires coming off the radio: blue, white, white/blue, and red/blue with no plug on the end (it was chopped off before i got my hands on it) I want to return it to factory, down to the wiring... I've fished around under the dash and the only plugs that are not hooked up are one on the passenger side next to the antenna switch plug but it has only three wires (blue, white, white/black), and the other is on the driver's side of the center tunnel by where the buzzer is…

My guages are not working all that great, and I hate electric guages anyways, and my clock is not working. So, what I want to do is replace all 3 guages with aftermarket ones, a fuel level, an oil pressure, and a temp guage. I was told there are some specific aftermarket ones that fit nicely in the factory openiings. What size guages will I need? Also, since I'm wanting all mechanical guages, I need to know the correct sizes for the fittings on the engine. I bought a tripple guage pod with only a couple common sized adapters for the fittings and was unable to use it since the fittings on my engine were not compatable. So I will need to get the correct fittings also. What …

I posted this one before but I guess that it got lost in the crash. I'm looking for the little sticker that goes on the center console under the light for the choke. Has anybody been able to get one and from where? (2ManyZs) I e-mailed Mike at Bonzai he said no.

Anyone know where one can get reasonabbly priced replacement black roof lining for a 240Z? i also heard that a certain years'? Ford Escort door aperture trim is as effective and very closely resembles that of the 240Z but at a fraction of the cost - can anyone confirm the year? I'm not really a cheapie but 100 pounds for one side is ridiculous!

Kindof a stupid question, but what were the other interiors called when offered? The really light one (off white) and the darker, kinda burnt fawn one. What was their official name? (found a 73 with the darker interior for $500!) steve77

I'm restoring what I believe to be a 70/71 model 240z. It's build number 418 but the tags say the car is a 72 mdl??? could be the year the car was complianced (in Australia) I've discovered that the Z is missing a fuse box. Is the fuse box a 'quick plug in' or would someone have tampered with the wiring? I've found a few lugs that are not connected and are located near the stereo - do these plug into the fusebox??? The car has no centre console, so I don't know if the fuse box is the type under the radio or next to the driver kick-panel. Any advice would be great...... Thanx.
